  1. ☺️ Active posters on this forum are typically old, male and tight so you don't see many mentions of interior designers. I've spent around £100k which is small even for this forum and its taken a few years to come around to the fact that I could be persuaded that an interior designer would be useful but would struggle to justify spending money on it. Money aside, it would be nice to have someone do the interior design because there's so much other stuff going on, decisions to make, things to sort that being able to let someone else do it is one less burden. And those people who say they'll give it some time to get a 'feel' will typically never do it fully, just adding stuff over time and never quite nailing the theme whereas a designer could do it all up front and then the home owner could enjoy it straight away. Something my wife believes in is if you are going to make a significant change, do it early so you benefit from it for longer. If I were trying to sell my services I'd go with those sorts of reasons - as I'm sure you already do. You're not selling a service, you're selling a benefit to someone.
  2. I’m trying to find a chart I saw yesterday but I don’t think we’ve ordered any/much Moderna. We’ve got a bit of Pfizer and sh*tloads of AstraZeneca of the front runners.
  3. Just gonna leave this here ?
  4. This all over. Its even worse for people (like me) who have not done a new build as such but slapped a big ugly extension on an existing house with all the featureless charm of a rusty Biffa bin. No money, no imagination, no features. ? It's grim. Its not so much that you have a blank slate to work with but a fresh turd. And you can roll it in glitter all you like but its still a turd.
  5. I have tried but worth a go again as it is cold this morning. might be extra clearance in there.
  6. You also need to lube the window seals in those bangers you like to run. Maybe not with graphite spray ?
  7. Thanks Mr Hindsight ?
  8. Double opener? Is just a standard side hinge casement. There is a cam at the bottom but that is free as the window clearly moves a bit when you push it. It does open out onto the big lean to extension roof so I do have some access but not doing it now in a frost... and the fascia/eaves bit is very low to the window.
  9. One of the problems with Brexit is we are the first to do it. That we are led by the institutionally incompetent* is compounded by the fact there is no one to crib off. C’est la vie. Hopefully someone vaguely competent will come along in the next 20 years. *Is this the fault of our EU membership? (not the EU per se). It looks awfully like our political class have been abrogating any responsibility they can to the EU for decades and suddenly they’re ill prepared to take it back.
  10. I’ve fiddled without luck so far. I should try to take the seal out and persevere, it’s the bends and dimensions that’s the problem. A loop of wire pushed down over the cam from outside and pulled from inside looks the best bet ?
  11. Did I say first floor? ? Is this locksmith territory? Not sure it’s a window fitter job.
  12. And how has the rest of Europe handled Covid? We’ve all pretty much done the same - very badly. Same mistakes, same responses, I’m afraid.
  13. Neither did I. I think it’s important to seek out opposing opinions but with all the will in the world I cannot waste my time following up on articles in the New Statesman, written by people so ideologically blind that a 3 sec Twitter search shows them to be borderline demented and obsessed. And give it any more credence than, say, Nigel Farage on the other side.
  14. I have a casement window that is stuck closed. It’s a first floor escape window ? Handle turns and the base is free but the top is still locked. I youtube’d how to free it and saw how you could slip something between the frame and casement to pull the latch down. Didn’t work and when I inspected a similar window (I’m guessing they are the same) could see the little latch was far higher and further back than in the YouTube examples and I will not be able to release it myself with “an Allen key”. Nor do the geometry of the “UPVC latch tools” available look promising. The roller cam is approx 25mm back from the face. Is there a better tool option? I need something thin, stiff, right- angled and a minimum of 30mm long in both directions to fit in the available space and also have enough meat to pull on whilst not slipping off.
  15. @SteamyTea I’ve just read Martin Fletcher’s Twitter feed ? Did Boris sleep with his partner as well?
  16. OMG, Lib Dems, property portfolio, social housing lawyer ? I wish you well Damon, good luck as this stinks.
  17. If he waited till next week, he could even go in the cafe. Lovely view of the M62
  18. Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt...
  19. Is this somewhere different to the collection point round the corner off the Audi roundabout?
  20. Paranormal activity?
  21. Buttons? conventional door? That Neff looks horrific. It looks like an ugly box covered in satin silver sprayed dog eggs.
  22. A Tuin Lory has been ordered. The existing shed has been wedged as far back as possible.
  23. £50 dewalt and makita bare impact drivers (NO battery) https://www.screwfix.com/c/tools/impact-drivers-wrenches/cat830838?modelno=dcf787n_xj|dtd156z Black Friday had started and I am Makita’d for £150 already. Need another battery though
  24. First step in the dance is to move the shed to survey the area properly. If it’s like usual the ground will be full of tree roots and organic matter
