  2. You all lost me a long time ago. I'll go and get another G@T. Monkey tonight, 47% vol
  3. I lose my pencil more than anything. It's normally behind my ear
  4. Yes, by as much as a century in bathroom finishing terms
  5. OK< so assuming a pump at the second manifold and no actuators; all I need is a 3core and earth?
  6. I've seen it all now!! https://www.lawson-his.co.uk/makita-dcm500z-18v-cordless-and-mains-coffee-maker-dcm500z
  7. Hmmm. Now this idea I like.
  8. Good point! Its my sparkies fault he started listing all the cable requirements he usually allows for.
  9. No problem. These types of threads always spark good questions and debate. Its all positive.
  10. Another first fix question from me. You can tell I'm starting to triple check before boards start flying up! Ref UFH manifolds: Only one zone but as we're split level we have two manifolds. Upper one is in the plant room so no drama's there. Lower one is in the under-stairs cupboard. So far to the under-stairs manifold location I've run: 22mm feed and return 1.5mm 4 core for the pump power and control 1mm 2 core for the actuators Is that all I need? The room thermostat is actually on the CBUS network so that's CAT5 and independent to the heating system. The CBUS network will trigger a relay to signal for heat (actual system still not finalised so a bit woolly here!). I'm also wondering if it would be better to site both pumps in the plant room?
  11. Love the Mondrian style back wall!
  12. Thats why I went to a different distro who was happy to supply me. My sparky is labour only. He's also happy for me to do all the first fix grunt. I've known him for a good while and he trusts my workmanship.
  13. No. I went direct to LiVE who put me in contact with a distro who was cheaper. SBS uses LiVE boards though. I've gone for standard RCBO's.
  14. Oh god, now you're talking!! I LOVE Ikea meatballs.
  15. Yep CU1: 20 RCBO loads CU2: CBUS 8 Ch Dimmer (12 DIN Ways) and 8 MCB's for each load CU3: CBUS 12way relay (12 DIN Ways) and 12 MCB's for each load CU4: CBUS 12way relay (12 DIN Ways) and 12 MCB's for each load CU5: CBUS Controllers/Inputs and a bit of expansion room. Here's a prebuilt unit (not what I've bought) that gives you the idea: https://www.laser.com/product_info.php/item/ART_PB_Dimmer-8ch-Pre_Built_8_channel_dimmer_L5508D1A_enclosure/cPath/168_266/products_id/1687 The metal CU's and RCBO's were from LiVE. The sparks were impressed with them.https://www.liveelectrical.co.uk/ They commented that the boards and RCBO's looked completely identical to Denmans own brand units. Yes, the other side is a cloaks cupboard. Well that's if I don't turn it into a AV cupboard
  16. Our design is such that we don't have balustrades as it's sandwiched between walls. I'll need a handrail and a small glass return at the top but I haven't priced that yet.
  17. Hi All My last first fix job is to run some 8core alarm cables to room corners, keypad locations etc. BUT, chatting to my sparky this week he said that it's now almost never done as the wireless systems have become so reliable. He said the only real need is a feed to the bell box and a fused spur for the control panel. I was just interested what others have done?
  18. No. I might see where they come out. They claim to deliver in their own vehicles.
  19. Just wondered if anyone has used TK Stairs? https://www.tkstairs.com/stair-designer Three quotes back (one local co, Pear Stairs and TK) and TK is a good 25% cheaper than the rest for an identical specification. Quote service was also efficient and friendly.
  20. I've got a fused switch at the meter (located on an outside wall). Then SWA from there into the house. Power went live in the house yesterday! Solar connected too. Just the small matter now of connecting up 20 odd radial circuits and 30 odd lighting loads into the FIVE consumer units
  21. Dustpan brushes! I lost another yesterday (sparkies must have liberated it). I think I might start buying them in bulk
  22. I completely agree with the above, self building is incredibly stressful. I would consider myself 'experienced' (Seems a strange word to link to stress?) in dealing with stress and cope well with it. I think the biggest factor with self build is that its highly personal, everything is for you and about you.
  23. +1 to what Jeremy has said. Your back wont thank you doing it twice!! Plus if your budget will stretch to it then buy the adhesive in the sausages and get a gun, it makes application SO much easier.
  24. Thanks guys will follow up with some research.
  25. Hi All i need to sort out two low profile plain white shower trays so I can sort first fix plumbing. There is a bewildering array of makes online from known brands, unknown brands and prices from low to sky high! Can anyone recommend a 'mid-range' tray?
