No, the standing charge is for the service, not how much

3 phase smart meter is very compact. Small box does/will make tail termination a struggle

A solid alu frame without thermal breaks will give very poor figures

Bifold / sliding doors / goal posts a guide to
markc replied to Gus Potter's topic in RSJs, Lintels & Steelwork
@Gus Potter nice diagrams to show what the figures mean in real terms. I sell cranes and cherry pickers and often have to give sketches to show the difference between point and distributed loads and their respective effect on thin slabs or suspended floors- 3 replies

RSJ Vs engineering joists for flat roof
markc replied to romario's topic in RSJs, Lintels & Steelwork
That is a cool build, ?? for not building a box. -
Echo, up there with Husq and Sthil

Should make the person an MP or Lord, probably make better decisions and explain them with more clarity

I can’t speak from experience but I would have thought triple glazing would reduce solar gain rather than increase.
-
If it’s a sip roof and 4x2 wall plate with no brickwork on the lintel then I wouldn’t bother, the wall plate will be fine

Hi, probably 2 months ish, as the old cable was already there (no idea what my house was used for to have such a big supply cable) I asked Octopus how much to install the other two meters? Simple and sweet was … if you are happy to have a smart meter then we will do it for free.

Laid my mats directly onto chipboard floor and embedded in the adhesive then large format tiles. Been fantastic running 24/7 with a thermostat set at 22 degrees, couple of days ago it appears a mat has shorted out. Cat and towels left on floor make very hot spots and this may well have been the cause. oh well, bit more ripping and and re tiling ?

I don’t know of any specific distance requirements but I assume each toilet will run out of the building to pick up a line running parallel to the build, in this case a chamber at each branch makes sense especially given the depth making intermediate rodding points a PITA.
-
Going slightly steeper isn’t a problem especially with flush points at different locations as this will help to keep the line clear

Or been offered more money next door

Fear of heights, reasonable or not..
markc replied to puntloos's topic in New House & Self Build Design
Frameless glass terrifies those with a fear of heights, a contrasting balustrade gives a fixed solid looking point to focus on. I used to live in a penthouse and a good friend who was scared stiff of heights got to enjoying the view and even looking over the glass parapet. living with the void I’m sure you will all get used to it quite quickly -
Angle could turn up behind wall plate. But as you are having a wall plate, do you need a lintel at all? what size wall plate? Will truss or rafter drop towards centre of door opening or one either side? As the roof will be fairly small, the potential loading above the door is comparable
-
If roof is pitched and space is tight then a angle (L section) will work well. something like 100x50x6 should be more than enough for a single door opening

White is dependant on what you are looking for, there are more shades of white than any other colour. brilliant whites tend to use a hint of blue to make them stand out. the brightest white we have found is old Ford diamond white
-
We have several decorators as customers and they always swear by Dulux for white

And the missing bits will be diesel powered containerised gensets

Fear of heights, reasonable or not..
markc replied to puntloos's topic in New House & Self Build Design
Very few people have a true fear of heights, the majority find looking over edges intriguing. the chances of accidentally going over a handrail are very slim … probably less than being struck by lightening. if the feature will diminish your enjoyment of the house then change it, if your concern is for the possible visitor then keep it. -
How much can I safely store in my loft?
markc replied to vcps2021's topic in General Structural Issues
If you have any photos these would help as trusses have different load bearing capabilities depending on design and especially if they sit on walls or free span -
How much can I safely store in my loft?
markc replied to vcps2021's topic in General Structural Issues
Hi, 140kgs is nothing. 4x2 bottom cords are quite big for trusses so you are already at an advantage. I would have no problem with loading 45sq metres with 1000kgs distributed. Please remember to take the weight of boarding into account even though these add stiffness and help distribute the load -
Not enough glue in 22mm Egger Chipboard installation?
markc replied to Adsibob's topic in Floor Structures
Chipboard. If the joists are shallow and you need the whole structure to act as a panel then gluing will be required. Admittedly I have never build a new house, only commercial with all residential work being refurbs.
