Manhole replacement: were my expectations too high?
Eric replied to Almost Aviation's topic in Waste & Sewerage
Take before & after photos. Getting ripped off sucks, trades are getting worse! -
Would you mind sharing plans/photos? I am looking for ideas for a garage with room above.

I had an integrated one & it never moved, I fixed ply to the floor for it to sit on. It came with a bracket that you could fit to stop movement but being the professional that i am I didnโt fit it

Suggestions/photos of how to detail glazed gable windows
Eric replied to Eric's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
Anyone got any photos of their glazed gables? -
I am looking for suggestions or photos of how to detail the glazed gable windows, above, between the windows, and under. There will be aluminium cills fitted to the windows. Kit is blocked in & then there will be 120mm stonework on the blocks, I presume the trim will need to be finished before the stonework?

Welcome to the forum. Are you doing any of the work on the new build or having it done?
-
Do you have any photos of this? Currently looking for ideas.

MVHR boost activated mode on rainy days
Eric replied to Seeoda's topic in Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
I had the same with my vent axia unit, I found that the filters were getting wet with moist air being drawn in causing it to boost. I just increased the humidity until it stopped doing it, think it was high 60โs -
My kit & partitions are spaced to use full sheets then cut out openings. Yes, there is waste but a lot of it can be used in other areas but itโs a better job with no risk of cracking.

Opinions on best way to drop a ceiling
Eric replied to Thorfun's topic in General Construction Issues
Not to derail the thread but do you have any photos of this Nick? I have a kitchen & family room 10m x 7m with double JJI joists @ 400centres, I was actually wondering about fitting plywood before plasterboard? -
Scaffolding - what happens with the rendering?
Eric replied to CalvinHobbes's topic in Brick & Block
Scaffold will be up until all the block work is finished, roof is finished, soffits & facia finished etc. It depends on the scaffold company as they will dictate if they have to remove it, which is very likely due to risk/insurance etc. Builder will do the render. -
Yeah thatโs going to be a PIA job for sure, finished treads are much bigger than the steel so there plenty of room to make the cuts oversized. It should be really nice when itโs finished ๐ฌ
-
Yes, the wall will be plasterboard, then the oak treads will be made.

I think our builders installed them on anything greater than 6m so definitely fit them. They are probably on your drawings?
