Have you got any SLC handy? Otherwise tile adhesive will do for 2mm -
Thinking about ditching our 'Architect'
bassanclan replied to CADjockey's topic in Surveyors & Architects
Do you know the design you want and basically want someone to formalise it? Or are you looking for the architect to come up with an excellent idea etc which he currently has not? -
Source of opaque diffusing strip for LED strips?
bassanclan replied to Fallingditch's topic in Lighting
These from CPC http://cpc.farnell.com/unbranded/3062/4-8w-led-strip-smd2835-60-m-ip65/dp/LA07018?st=strip leds seem very reasonably priced. I'm looking for 24V low powered as I've got a run of 9m and need to keep it under 60W total power for the lightwave mood controller I'm hoping to use. -

It's easier for the plasterer to skim a full flat celing than around holes etc. You can easily cut the hole out afterwards. -
Plastering Moisture Resistant Plasterboard
bassanclan replied to Onoff's topic in Plastering & Rendering
Board is better at the minute apparently but only if you are any good at plastering and it goes off faster than multi. I think we all know you want the slowest setting plaster possible! -

To be fair, you should only need 1kg to fill those gaps, you may as well buy whatever you are going to use to tile the walls (I'm sure it'll be out of date by then!). Keraflex would be a good idea. Otherwise if you are throwing it away you only need a 5kg of any old make. -
Too late for changes to the actual tank as I already have it, all 200kg of it which was a joy to get upstairs! The Inta mag filter is £59.99 inc VAT on BES in 28mm The Boiler m8 are £49.99 inc VAT from boilerfans on ebay in 28mm delivered. No idea if one is better than the other

The joy of ex-display

excellent bargain, I hope you've got the floors to support that bath it looks pretty heavy! EDIT: Oh i just saw it's only 82kg -
So I got a quote from DPS Heatweb for their heatbank/thermal store. I decided I didn't like the price. I tried to get it sorted throught cylinders2go but what I wanted, they couldn't fit to any of the Telford layouts. So I sought a quote from Newark copper before ordered a stainless steel cylinder to this designThermal store.tif I am trying to recreate a system similar to http://www.energyhubplus.co.uk/index.html Which is similar to the DPS Heatweb system which is similar to the (now closed down) HTG thermal store. The radiator circuit is in 28mm copper (direct tapping) The boiler stove is in 28mm copper (direct tapping) The gas boiler is in 22mm copper (direct tapping) The UFH (2 zones) is in 22mm copper (from a single coil) BOILER STOVE On the energy hub plus model there are magnetic filters on the boiler and radiator circuits but there is no magnetic filer on the stove circuit, I presume this is because it would be dangerous to have valves capable of interupting the flow to and from the tank (even though there are valves on the laddomat loading valve). Would it be worth fitting a magnetic filter on a 22mm injector T? Proposed magnetic filters as they are cheapest: https://boiler-m8.co.uk/boiler-m8-defender2-28mm-magnetic-system-boiler-filter.html DHW DHW is via a plate heat exchanger. I was thinking of using this pump https://www.screwfix.com/p/wilo-yonos-central-heating-pump-6m/59045 to circulate the hot water from the store through the PHE. I was looking for a 28mm flow switch, but cant find what I was looking for so will settle for the gentech fs05 22mm switch used by eneryhubplus. I propose using the Taconova NovaMix Standard 70/40 MT52 Thermostatic Mixing Valve used by energyhubplus alternatively https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Oventrop-DN25-Brawa-OVRG-Thermostatic-Mixing-Valve-1300251/162909264615?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649 as 28mm TMVs are not easy to come by 22mm Y strainer for connecting to the incoming cold main before reaching the TMV RADIATOR CIRCUIT Siemens 2 port motorised valve TMV (possibly as above as the price was great) https://www.screwfix.com/p/grundfos-alpha-2l-15-60/73917?tc=FB7&ds_kid=92700020969716932&ds_rl=1248151&ds_rl=1245250&ds_rl=1247848&gclid=CjwKCAjwr-PYBRB8EiwALtjbzyX96YWL2t2YpdG2-il4gY1qtIIpIzjhkzI-mT9MiY5-L7yEAB0AuRoCQ4IQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=CLe2tK_1wdsCFRU10wodTpcK7Q UFH The 22mm will split and go to one upstairs manifold and one downstairs manifold. I have Wunda manifolds which have pumps and TMVs, so I thought I could just make the connections directly. THERMOSTATS https://www.advanceappliances.co.uk/product/119-dual-probe-stat-with-hi-limit-control-0-85-deg-c-used-with-all-thermal-stores/ and using their stainless steel pockets. Then I just need to think about the wiring to get everything to work! Hopefully I can combine it with a NEST too! Have I missed anything important? Do I need some spring check valves in anywhere?

Ordering concrete, how to sound like a trade pro.
bassanclan replied to epsilonGreedy's topic in Building Materials
You will also need a couple of bags of cement to prime the pump -
I don't fancy drilling into the stone resin. Thank you for the input and for steering me away from those crazy ideas, which in the back of my mind I knew weren't right.
-
Yes I think you are right, I need to make the hole in the plywood bigger and then a 45 degree out. The just trays waste is chrome plated plastic, so I will probably go for something like this https://www.bellabathrooms.co.uk/mcalpine-stw12-rb-1-x-80mm-seal-resealing-shower-trap-85mm-cp-brass-flange.html
-
Thanks for the idea, but it can't be a horizontal outlet adn with a lack of easy access from above or below I really want it to be in chrome plasted brass rather than chrome plated ABS. I'm thinking of putting in something like this: https://www.victorianplumbing.co.uk/ultra-easy-clean-shower-tray-waste-chrome-e385?campaign=googlebase&gclid=CjwKCAjw6djYBRB8EiwAoAF6oRfmUjviz7uIc12fuOrjoX1-7GcNcOm4IDIxzJjwk3oXDYcbxKTORBoCW6AQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds and then going into https://www.screwfix.com/p/mcalpine-adjustable-inlet-tubular-p-trap-white-40mm/46577 and then a 40>50mm reducer but I would rather do it all in 50mm, but I can't seem to find what I am looking for

bassanclan replied to epsilonGreedy's topic in Building Materials
It doesn't pay to sound professional, the price is the same unless you are a house builder. Make sure you explain you don't know exactly how much you need and you want 6 full loads "PLUS" that means you get to choose how much you put inthe final mixer when it comes. You may need more or less than anticipated. You get 20 mins to unload the concrete -
Well I ordered the Macalpine vertical trap/waste that I linked previously, only to find that it is designed for a 90mm hole in the tray and I have a 50mm hole in the tray with a 90mm flange. It doesn't look like they make vertical wastes for a 50mm hole

Integrated tumble dryer, does it exist?!
bassanclan replied to Triple07's topic in Kitchen & Household Appliances
My mum has had a white knight non integrated tumble dryer for 20 years, never missed a best. They don't seem to make much else than tumble dryers and seem to pretty good at it -
I like to pay tradesmen by the day. If the job is more complicated or I haven't got the right materials then I thought then it's my problem.

There is a JT Fusion tray on 25mm plywood. There is a 50mm waste which has been run 90% of the way to the tray (circa 1.5m from the soil stack). I just need to join the two up from below the floor. After the two are joined the celing will be put up and the only access will be through the top access of the waste. I wanted to have a deep water seal to avoid the smelly drain possibility. fusion-spec-sheet-2017.pdf
-
No there's no access. It is top access from the shower tray only
-
Sorry, I didn't really explain that very well. I was hoping to be able to fit something like this: https://mcalpineplumbing.com/traps/shower-traps-accessories/st90cp10-hpc-2-90mm-hi-flow-shower-trap But I can't due to the thickness of the floor + shower tray. Now I'm thinking I might fit the one I originally linked, then into a 50mm p trap to provide a deeper reservoir of water. The shower will be rarely used and the drying out of the waste is a concern. Is two traps a bit mad?
-
Throw away that wire wool before you get tetanus! The scotchbite pad is good or get a little pipe deburrer for £2-3 from Toolstation. That joint looks dry, but also like a Yorkshire joint. Are you endfeeding as well?

I'm looking to buy a shower trap. I am putting the trap through a 25mm thick resin cast tray and a 25mm plywood floor before going under the floor to the soil stack. I am trying to run it all in a 50mm waste. My choice of waste seems limited to https://mcalpineplumbing.com/traps/shower-traps-accessories/st90cp10-vc-90mm-vertical-shower-trap but then I will need trap underneath which is not ideal. Are there any other 2" waste/trap options around?

Price for laying outdoor porcelain tiles
bassanclan replied to lizzie's topic in Landscaping, Decking & Patios
It sounds like he doesn't want the job. It would be more expensive as he will lose days when it rains and there is more chance of comeback if the grout fails and water gets under and freezes in the winter, but even so, get another quote.
