@zoothorn that lintel is self supporting - the shape of the stones gives it away. Just don’t take out too much from the vertical joints on the header stones - they look pretty good anyway.
-
Keep 80-90% out of the gutters and when they do need a quick clean it’s just pull the hedgehog out and give it a rinse with the hose and push it back in.
-
@zoothorn do what everyone else does and work off the steps. TBH that is still plenty of space for storage and you can roll stuff out from the hatch. Just fit it and it’s done. Slightly worrying is that doesn’t meet building regs and should have min 300mm up there ...

Building Control: hot water pipes and storage of material
PeterW replied to ToughButterCup's topic in Building Regulations
May well also be referring to water regulations and the requirements for Part G that all appropriate hot water pipework should be insulated for min 1m. -
@Rohan what is the make and model number for the heat pump ..?
-
Most likely it is a variable flow pump controlled directly from the control board within the unit. Replacing it with something outside the unit would need some clever wiring plus a pump of equal spec so not simple.
-
Done both - hedgehog in the gutters and then use these at the base of stacks as it goes into a rainwater tank so don’t want anyone able to pour buckets of stuff into the system.

Treatment unit sizing - professionals disagreeing!
PeterW replied to Randomusername's topic in Waste & Sewerage
Minimum size for a house is 5P, and you add one 1P per room over 3 rooms, so yours is technically a 5P but you may find the smallest unit avaialbale was a 6P unit. -
Treatment unit sizing - professionals disagreeing!
PeterW replied to Randomusername's topic in Waste & Sewerage
Sizing is as per page 4, section 5 of this document. An oversize unit can be a bad thing as they need a minimum flow to “survive” So a 4 bed would be counted as 6P, and depending on how you count the annex, you could either say it is 5 bed and therefore it is 7P, or if you said it was a self contained unit and also has kitchen etc then it would be counted as 3P on its own so would be a total of 9P.. Clear as mud..?? -
Depends .. what is your heating ..? UFH or rads ..? size of house..? Size of ASHP..? Buffer looks optional with Panasonic but H65 depending on the model is either flow switch or primary pump. Both are fairly easy to resolve for an engineer. Is the pump integral to the unit or do you have a separate pump..?

ASHP, UFH and solar thermal, or ASHP, UFH and MVHR????
PeterW replied to Dicky's topic in Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
Thats what MVHR does - takes stale warm air from the house and replaces it with filtered fresh air. Have you been inside a house with MVHR out of interest ..? -
ASHP, UFH and solar thermal, or ASHP, UFH and MVHR????
PeterW replied to Dicky's topic in Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
Nothing with MVHR stops you opening Windows - it just ensures that where air is lost from the building in kitchens and bathrooms that it has 70-85% of its heat returned to the house. -
There is a BS calculation to the flow rate from a roof. You then use that to work out the litres/second and then the number of down pipes. Unless it’s a small building, 125mm deep flow or 150mm If you don’t have many downpipes Decent guide here

Clean and tidy brickwork there ! What is the copper (??) pipe in the last photo ..?

Make sure when you redo that tile there is a full bed top and bottom of the holes as they take the weight when you sit on the pan and you can crack tiles if they aren’t loaded correctly.

Electric fire for heating the bath when he gets in it....

By whom..??!! That’s entirely incorrect .. if done correctly with continuous band top and bottom and around sockets etc you have fewer issues but in no way does it negate the insulation.
-
So if this is all internal and you just need the drawings for structural purposes such as steel calculations then go to a structural engineer. It sounds like you know what you want to do, not quite sure what an architect would add at this point and you’ll still need the SEng calcs for building regs anyway.

Treatment plant - distance from boundary etc?
PeterW replied to Randomusername's topic in Waste & Sewerage
They do it as “guidance only” as local BCOs may allow it to be closer and it also depends on the part of the UK you are in. -

Nice simple summary of the English and Welsh BRegs and standards here
