Simple wireless single channel room stat will do that - replace the timer with the base unit, and then put the stat in the annex and that would work but there are a couple of small niggles. You say the pump switches on with the current timer - how does it also switch the boiler on..? How is the rest of the house controlled along with the hot water ..? It may be worth looking at replacing all the controls so you have a consistent set and also ensure heat is available when you want it to be - piggy backed systems aren’t the best idea.

Is the rad on its own pumped circuit or are you relying on another pump that operates at the same time...? You can wire two actuators into a zone on the Heatmiser units. Nothing stopping you wiring the zone valve into the Z3 terminals but that will only open the valve. Need a bit more info to drive the rest.

New Washing Machine v. New Generator - not working
PeterW replied to MrsMozart's topic in General Alternative Energy Issues
What is charging the batteries ..?? Are you using an inverter that will also act as a charger ..? And what model is the washing machine as F-06 is door lock on Hotpoing units normally. -
That’s an LPD pre-finished 5P (5 panel) door. They do then in a load of colours, about £140 each if you shop around.
-
@Stanley36 that’s overkill. You could lose the inner bricks and just line with insulation and a DPM and fill with 100mm concrete.

Why multi heat source ..? Do you currently have an oil boiler ..??

Induction Hobs with LARGE rings?
PeterW replied to puntloos's topic in Electrics - Kitchen & Bathroom
IKEA do one and it turns the whole of one side into a single zone. Also seen they have brought out one with a built in extractor - £1150..!! -
EcoDesign has been around since 2018, and they have been labelling compliant stoves since then. They have to be minimum 80% efficient - if they aren’t the they are pretty poor quality to start with. This is a good synopsis : What will happen on the 1st Jan 2022? From the 1st Jan 2022, it will be illegal to manufacture and sell new stoves that do not comply with the Ecodesign regulations. Stoves that were already in the chain of supply, in showrooms, warehouses etc may still be sold, however, an enforcement team has been set up to verify products sold comply with regulations. What about Energy Labelling? Energy labelling or Ecolabels came into force for stoves on the 1st Jan 2018. Stoves displayed in our showroom already carry this information. Manufacturers are obliged to include a printed label in the stove packaging as well. This shows a stoves efficiency in a recognisable format.

Tesla or other-brand roofing tiles vs the classic panel-approach?
PeterW replied to puntloos's topic in Photovoltaics (PV)
Very likely as the warranty providers are incredibly risk averse so will only warranty things they know. -
Tesla or other-brand roofing tiles vs the classic panel-approach?
PeterW replied to puntloos's topic in Photovoltaics (PV)
Only available from Tesla, and they will not quote for installation in the UK yet. Product also doesn’t have a CE or BBA approval for use as a roof covering in the UK so you would need to take that into consideration. -
Those pots are auto bleed valves. Push the pin down and any air should escape.
-
Amazed that isn’t air locked with the loop over the top ..!! I would see what happens if you turn the flow down on that pump but leave upstairs on max. Are these floors wooden with spreader plates under the floor ..? Do you know how much insulation is between the floors ..?
-
Does the downstairs manifold have its own pump ..?? I wonder if the ASHP pump is pushing water through the downstairs manifold and back to the ASHP and bypassing upstairs. Are there any zone valves ..??
-
Upstairs manifold needs a pump of its own. Is this whole house running off a single pump ..??
-
Single pump can’t really run two manifolds like that - one will always be starved of heat as the closest and shortest loops take the flow. That pump is on full - try rotating all the way anticlockwise to get the pump running on proportional flow.

Manifold system versus hot return system
PeterW replied to Russell griffiths's topic in General Plumbing
@LA3222 The HRC can be the same one - doesn’t matter if it’s the same feed as it goes back to the tank Secondary Return port. How are you controlling the pump..? -
Have you asked him why ..? And how about offering to pay the supplier invoices direct to manage the cash flow. Also means you’re the owner of the goods outright.

No idea who’s told you a 150mm slab is too thin but they don’t know what they are talking about ..!! There are houses on here built on less ..! If you want an insulated slab then you need to work out how to finish the sides of the insulation - with a 50mm insulation upstand you could put the walls over this and run the cladding down lower but you will need to find a way of finishing below ground (cement board may work) as timber will rot. Have you sketched any plans ..? And what’s the insulation going in the walls ..??

Got an office in Newton Abbot and do cover the south west so may be worth a try

DIY UFH is dead easy - if you can run a cable you can run UFH pipe. Plenty of options with the tray systems, rails or just clipped to the insulation. You can DIY the design using LoopCAD or get one of the suppliers such as Wunda to do it for you. Pressurising is as simple as connecting the hose pipe to flush the loops and then capping off the manifold and keeping an eye on things.

For you I’ll do it for £59.50 as they are a doddle ..! They need a good set of eyes to see the terminals and a small screwdriver so I tend to make them up on the kitchen table with some tails on and use Wagos to connect them. Make a power fly lead using a plug and you can test and programme on the bench first as they keep their memory for ages. The main issue I found was getting it to recognize on the phone app, so use an Android tablet or laptop - also worth adding your phone hotspot as a secondary internet provider so if you lose the internet signal you can still access the unit. Monitoring is good too - I’ve got a couple (one is a 1PM with the sensor header) and it gives me the outputs of the sensors over a period of time and you can download the data too. Nice touch is the override switch - if you go for a retractive switch it means it can never be left “On” and lock out the controls from the app or the timer.

Happy New Year from my BM : not
PeterW replied to ToughButterCup's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
Had an amusing exchange with Jewsons just before Christmas for a job where there are 28 pallets of bricks - they are delivered weekly in 6 pack drops and are half way through and were priced on the full 28 packs. They are all in the yard, and all marked up with the site name so they don’t go elsewhere, and they tried to put a 4.5% increase on them from 4th January til I pointed out the email from the branch manager agreeing the price and delivery schedule ...!! ”But the central accounting team say we have to increase the prices ......” Suffice to say, they are all coming as agreed and at the price agreed - assuming it stops snowing !! -
That’s dead easy with a Shelly.
-
Shelly 1 could do it - bypass the live to the feed (unless it’s a Nv switch ..?) and can do by pressing a button or phone / app etc. Cheap and easy for about £10. You could go all the way and replace the whole of the system with a Shelly with a thermostatic head, you can programme them and they will also communicate with other MQTT devices.

How big is the cavity ..? Is it 100mm or less ..? Depending on where you are in the UK, JJ Crump in Sheffield do this and they are very competitive on pricing. They do a couple of different bead types too.
