  1. First sheet down . Pushed it into the corners . Can see though when they pour the screed suddenly causing the plastic to slip and slide inwards .
  2. Emergency question ! i assumed the vapour barrier would have a ‘ install this side facing up ‘ ( like roofing barrier ) . But it doesn’t - so it doesn’t matter ? Seems strange
  3. Cut off excess foam - taped joints . Vapour barrier now

  5. Just waiting for foam to go off ; then will cut excess followed by foil tape all joints . I don’t know ; feels like my build consists solely of pir with some cladding ?

  7. Just googled screed depth and got a variety of answers .... It’s unbonded and we will assume fibres in it .

  11. Well ! screeders been He said sand and cement barrowed in ! ? I assumed he would suggest liquid screed like everyone uses in grand design . Apparently liquid screed material cost is naturally more expensive and isn’t as level as people think ! He was implying that the labour is cheaper than the material therefore use cheap materials ! what do we all think ? . He also said sand and cement screed has to be at least 60mm with ufh to avoid tikes cracking

  14. All internal . Problem is I need to ‘shutter’ this bit for ufh and screed . Balustrade some way off ? , but yes they could drill through the lot to bolt off the steel
  15. Lol like I know what the balustrade will be like ! Making it up as I go along Of more concern is a helical self supporting staircase . ? So essentially a steel spine that’s only fixed at the top ( to that beam ) and at the base into the floor . This I can envisage in my minds eye
  16. So bed the fixing in the 1st base mortar and then drill/screw 2nd course to fixings ? That edge will have balustrade and also self supporting stair case will fix to it
  17. Here’s the steel to make it clear . i just need a nice concrete base along its length ( and probably as wide ) I could just cement concrete blocks to it but i’m worried when they are drilled for fixings the vibrations will cause concrete block to disconnect from steel beam

  19. Hey Thanks for the replies . Not entirely sure what you guys mean . Will stick a photo up tomorrow. Did wonder if I could drill the steel and somehow bolt concrete blocks to it ...
  20. It’s an internal steel whose function is just to provide support for the stairwell . I need to shutter the edge for ufh screed . But also need a good edge for fixing of balustrade and the actual staircase .
  21. Hey all i need to build up a concrete plinth that happens to be on an internal steel . Whats the best way to attach concrete blocks to structural steel ? I could cement them but i’m Guessing that’s not the preferred way .... ?
