  1. Hmmmm i’ll need a small landing at the top ( winder ) before I run straight . Guess I would make a landing platform with a wood base and support then run a cheap straight run off it ....
  2. Oh . I assumed it would need support along its length either from the floor or bolted to a wall . Will check howdens - cheers
  3. I need some proper temp stairs . If I buy a straight run is that self supporting ? I.e only fixed at the top and base . So no side fixings for support . Or must I construct some kind of frame ???
  4. Another question ! We haven’t chose our bath yet . I do like the solid ones - no legs ; the base sits in the floor . With those - how do you access the waste and tap feeds ? . From photos doesn’t look any obvious way . Like this one for example. https://www.drench.co.uk/drench-ellie-acrylic-white-freestanding-bath-1700-x-800mm
  5. Ok ! I’m nearing the point I need to start planning and doing this . I’ve deliberately left gaps in my screed for a flush with finished floor shower . My assumption was to treat the bathroom like a wet room I.e water proof it to the same level even though it’s not a wet room . Currently don’t know the shower enclosure we will have but assume it will just be a glass panel from floor up to ceiling . One question is how do these attach to the floor ? - some special slot fixing that gets embedded in the floor before tiling ? I’m not looking to create another @Onoff bathroom thread - tons of useful info in there but the bibles a shorter read ??
  6. I cheat If it wobbles I poop my pants So I build it up , screw the scaf planks together then screw that to the timber frame !! ?
  7. Lol i did contemplate that but as I’m not good with heights I got scaffolding in for that bit
  8. Guy looked again today and after some alterations seemed happy - starts next week
  9. Free photo of my avatar completely unclothed to the next person that posts in this thread .
  10. You are my new best mate @nod !! ? Was getting bored of @Onoff anyway ?
  11. I ordered Knauf aqua panel exterior screws ( as recommended by render guy )
  12. Not sure now ! In panic / haste ordered some sTainless steel ones - will replace all of them so I sleep at night !! . Only take a few hours ...
  13. Yeah I think he meant if his 'chippy' had done it he'd sack him but as it's a self build and "you've got enough to do already" .... He was confident that the boards don't expand but it is recommended by the manufacturer to have the gaps. Yeah I 'thought' I used stainless steel but some have definitely rusted (been up maybe 1.5 years) ; so I'll replace those with new stainless steel - probably end up replacing every screw for peace of mind!!! Cheers
  14. Quick question ! Render board fixing screws should be zinc so don’t rust ???????
  15. Well I boarded mine ages ago . Render guy came to look today for k rend or similar . He was not impressed with the gaps deliberately left between boards - but it was ok . His tip for future reference is to put the boards up butt tight to each other , then just angle grind a nice neat expansion gap ! ? Live and learn ! Hope that helps someone !!
  16. I reckon i’ll Be about £1500 sq metre once finished - years from now . Do everything , apart from plastering and a few specifics like flat roof . More importantly how I look at it is what it cost to what it’s worth ...

  20. Quite a mix ! . I go for z wave or Poe with indigo on Mac . Nice and reliable !
  21. Possibly your neighbor has changed the channel on their router and it’s conflicting with yours . Easy thing to alter and see .
  22. Nah . You want at least 2 of the new ones . Allows it to become a WiFi connection point and uses a further unit to ‘extend’ range . Works really well !
  23. Devolo plugs are your friend ! Uses main wiring for connection to router . Automatically allows you to roam between them . It works !
  24. Some of the bitch neighbors are dead now ; so less hassle !
  25. Yeah single storey apart from the underground dungeon!
