You could just get these made ( I know that would be too easy ) . I made my own cap stones for my wall . All was great but after 2 years just started crumbling . Found a company that will pretty well make what I want at a very reasonable price . But as we both know ; why make it easy when you can make it hard ! ( not a euphemism! )

Always assume it will move ( or be nudged ) so any brace / prop is always worth it . If you have a spare trestle you can strap it to that .

Not sure if anyone here is old enough to remember MSX . Once that failed they then tried MSX2 which failed . Admittedly the entire market is somewhat different today . But even with z wave different manufacturers devices ( supposedly adhering to the same standard ) can cause issues . I’ll certainly keep an eye on matter - and see where it is 12 months from now .

Fair enough . Tbh I had forgot about matter - read about it a while ago . That’s one of the reasons I choose a HA system that can use all technologies- though Of course Apple etc. May not want you going outside their eco system . Whilst I’m mainly zwave I’d happily add new devices via another method once it’s proven . I remember trying to do stuff with x10 … ??

Have to agree . You can wait forever . Until Apple/Google etc. Bother to Chuck large amounts of cash into this it will be a while . Home automation I think in the U.K. is still viewed as hobbyist/ nerdy apart from the absolute basics - like turning a light on from your phone .

I specifically used the modern net gear poe ones that don’t have a fan ( can dig up the exact model number ) only 24 ports . I daisy chain 3 together . Their power output can be increased simply by increasing the psu supplying it if you need more wattage .
