  1. They were at 1630 nearly scared to go and look now.
  2. Trad deck is what I have ended up using not too bad to install did it on my own.
  3. @Ryan85 I know @Alphonsox uses one of these 4G routers https://www.amazon.co.uk/Huawei-Unlocked-Mobile-Router-Genuine/dp/B013P15G4K/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1494928394&sr=1-1&keywords=Huawei+B315

  5. HI @Simplysimon I plan to use a Viltra tank at my site and have been dealing with them directly.
  6. This is what HSENI say about the use of harnesses for internal fall protection:- Harnesses should be the last option considered, and only used by workers who have been trained in their use and the use planned by someone competent to take into account: the circumstances strength and location of available anchor points type/length of lanyard suspension height and obstacles means of rescue

@PeterW not sure if there are any reg differences for here but he was certainly looking for everything to be certified. He was a cold caller and not what I wanted! The site is a pure self build and not registered with HSE

    Scaffold

Currently within a 1 mile radius of me there are 4 other self build sites. At least one of them had a visit and stopped work until trestle had a hand rail fitted by a certified person. Scaffolding was also given a good going over.
  10. @Alphonsox falling from roof trusses to the floor single story building. Unfortunately work has been stopped by prohibition notice until he is satisfied, so can't continue with roof in the meantime.

Not relishing getting quotes. Hse appear to be touring my part of the world got told of another site close to me who they imposed themselves on also. Also want internal fall protection in place.
  12. Has anyone provided any means of internal fall protection on their build, specifically during the roofing phase? I had an unwanted visitor by way of the health and safety inspector and he now wants me to provide fall protection. Air bags or bean bags was suggested but neither seem readily available in NI. Trestle planks and plywood it might have to be.

    Scaffold

So I am on the naughty step, health and safety visited site today and served me a prohibition notice. Basically roofers working with insufficient scaffolding. Can anyone recommend scaffolding companies in NI. Buying my own is not an option has to be a certified installation.
  14. I am building outside Dromara Co. Down and was in the same position as yourself. We bought a site with outlined and Reserve matters approvals in place and then decided to re-design. I decided to cut the access lane and clear the site before our new design was approved. The access was the same as the previously approved plans and house location within the 1.5 acres relatively the same. I would only throw up the shed if it is the same footprint and location as approved within your RM approval.
  15. Digging this one up again, wife just mentioned she wants a built in shelf in shower. How did you do this @Declan52 on a block wall? Is it double skin?
  16. This is the look I am after Before Rendering and After Rendering. This uses the version that @JSHarris I had not realised that version existed, despite it being quite obvious on their website. The version I referenced did no hide the batten ends as it has no downstand (if that is the right descriptor).
  17. Thanks @JSHarris don't know how I managed to miss that one, looks like it should do the job. Just need to work out render depth to tie it all in as near flush as possible.
  18. Looking some guidance for the verges on my roof. I am hoping to use the Kytun dry verge trims which a number here have used already @dogman @Barney12 @JSHarris. I am trying to work out how these should be installed in relation to tile battens. We don't have any fascia and soffit with the hope being that we would render gable ends up to the underside of the kytun trim. Any installation guidance I have seen shows the trims installed on top of the tile battens, which is fine if then fitting a fascia board. In my case this would leave the gable walls with visible battens and then the tile trim. How should this be detailed to allow for rendering gables? Thanks in advance.
  19. Out of interest Declan did you buy direct from them, think they have a place at mallusk.
  20. BT connection, were any of you charged for site surveys, cabling and ducting? In the past i have heard of people getting this all thrown out for free. Looking at the online new site connections form it is quoting prices for all of these.
  21. So £750 would be a good deal if it is in reasonable condition
  22. Morning all, how much would you expect to pay for second hand kwikstage scaffolding approx the following:- 40 9'9' standards 50 4'2' transoms 30 8' ledgers 36 8' planks 20 adjustable base jacks Thanks in advance
  23. Ian We have very similar circumstances mine is a traditional build with block and I too have had meteorological bad luck as a consequence of my contractor/project manager incorrectly specifying, somewhat ironically, wind posts. This along with other issues and oversights tipped the balance and he had to go. It wasn't pleasant but was something that had to be done. We are no longer on speaking terms due to the verbal onslaught that I had to listen to and there is very little re-course with telephone conversations. I would recommend as @Nickfromwales says to bullet point all issues and give them in writing. I pondered on what to do for quite a while but the relief when it was done was immense. I have retained the brickies and whilst they do a brilliant job they are not always there but I will tolerate this until they are complete, then it is all my own trades people or me.
  24. I'm interested in fibaro if I ever get my house past the block work stage. Updates on your experience would most welcome
  25. I'm no expert but will these layouts not bring an uneven heat distribution? Is it not recommended to run flow and return side by side as depicted in this Link
