Got my NI Water connection price through, on the face of it its not too bad:- Connection: £888 Building Supply: £20 Infrastructure Charge Water £314 Total: £1222 What confuses me is they have stated that the watermain is 27.47 meters from my property. My house will be alot more than that distance from the road. From my boundary to the watermain, which is the other side of the road, would be 5.5m. I do recall others having issues like this @slidersx200 definitely mentioned something similar on ebuild but I couldnt find an outcome. Going to phone them and query but thought I would ask the wise on here first.

All valid points Jamie and all things that need to be added to this, as I said it the electrician drew the spec himself and I would be tuning it. We havent got working drawings as yet so it was a finger in the wind exercise to a degree to allow a contractor to give me a 'guide price' for our build.

What cameras are you guys using to shoot your time-lapse?

Phoned the new connections number and they would not commit to the sky being blue/grey but gave me the number for a local surveyor. Had a chat with him and he was very pragmatic and said if it is ducted and drawstring, and was inside my boundaries they will use it as long as it is only comms cable or solely for BT use. He also stated that it didnt have to be 50mm or grey as it was within my site. He was also happy for me to quote this and him at a later date. Down the line I will have to get a survey done but he confirmed that I have a box in my boundary and there is a fibre in it so I will get my connection there.

Folks, quick query. Digger man just off the phone he is coming before the end of the week (sooner than we thought) to start the entrance and laneway. We are going to lay the water and BT ducting at the same time. Can I just get 50mm grey ducting from the Builders merchant and lay it with a draw cord or does it have to be supplied by BT from their yard?

They look like a great window, but pricey I would think. Called in with them a few weeks ago when I was at the port for the week. Haven't heard a thing from them since.
-
Who are you going to get your windows from?
-
No that's slieve croob. We are building towards the back end of the field. I'm not honestly sure how much water flows through it at its worst might be better waiting and find out first or put 200 mm instead. They both flow into the same culvert in the bottom corner of my site where I had thought of creating a stone sump or concrete chamber to manage the water.

A few questions for you good folk. Done some work on site clearing grass and cut a few trees down on Tues, boy was it warm. This a pic of site. Anyway I have to ditches sheughs on site both pretty much dry at the minute, was thinking of cleaning these out a bit and putting 150mm perforated twin wall in topped with clean stone. Is this a good idea? Or any other suggestions. Is BT pipe still 50/60mm grey and can blue water pipe just be buried without any other ducting? Thanks.

There was a directive in June for niwater to stop installing meters as it is a waste of public money. This will be the case until there is legislation brought forward in the autumn to make them a legal requirement. That legislation can't be adopted until there has been a public consultation, so probably won't happen soon.

Thanks for all of this valuable information @Nickfromwales just realising I never passed on my gratitude for your knowledge.

If needs must yes it is a DIY job, but you got to like grit in your eyes and the taste of dust! Me and a mate did his and it took us longer than the pros by a mile.

We don't have RHI in northern Ireland any longer, over subscribed or the system was worked so withdrew it in Feb this year.
