  1. Just a wild, mad thought...I work on sites where concrete is pumped from ground upward up many storeys. Is it not possible to locate the concrete trucks where your neighbours still have access and pipe the stuff in?
  2. To be fair it's more the SE's fault, no?
  3. Is this any good? https://inspectapedia.com/insulation/R-Value_of_Soil.php
  4. Mods, apologies if this is seen as a plug but ref batteries and chargers I can highly recommend this seller: https://www.vapextech.co.uk I've known the proprietor and his family for 20 years but am not involved in any way. Paul's a top bloke.
  5. How about a wall drain?
  6. Bargain was the word I meant to use.
  7. £6K sounds reasonable to me.
  8. Another Kent lad! Welcome.
  9. "Daddy , I wanted a PROPER doll's house!"
  10. What can I cut 1:10 scale, 400x250 light grey tiles out of then? Cornflakes box maybe?
  11. So trying to rearrange the elderly parents kitchen. They are hoarders in the worst sense and very, very resistive to change. Too many cups, trays, pans etc. As above I've moved the fridge freezer into the alcove but only have 550mm (560mm 'ish less some tolerance). All the narrow, 1750mm high freezers are crap makes like Beko etc. So I'm thinking about this integrated Zanussi: https://ao.com/product/zbf22456s1-zanussi-upright-freezer-white-42471-34.aspx What's a "sliding door fixing kit"? Do I have to "intergrate" it or can it be freestanding? Do I have to fit a "cover" on the door? Cheers
  12. In the spirit of Silly Season I'm going to let SWMBO and the youngest stick to-scale tiles on an mdf model to calc how many we need / where best to place then for cuts etc:
  13. Lets face it there's not much going to get through the meticulously applied 400 odd mm of lcynene in your walls!
  14. Vague memory of 15 cats... But reptiles is a new one!
  15. Pretty sure @PeterStarck told me through their build they just occasionally had a 2kW heater going in the winter. But seriously you passiv types are missing a trick: http://www.c60design.co.uk/news/many-cats-take-heat-passive-house/ Interesting foot note on the use of iguanas for cooling...
  16. Git! Just wondering if it would work fitting my ceiling body dryer in the bathroom in a dropped ceiling feature. Might save me doing a complicated insulation feature above.
  17. Thanks. I think it's Axiom lumber padua oak. I think I can get a 2m length for £50/60 which will probably be the way I'll go. Just need to find somewhere local.
  18. Peter, I've access to various large fibre washers if you need another. Just tell me the dia and I'll see what I can get.
  19. Having a bit of a rearrange in my ageing parents ageing kitchen. I'm putting in a 1000mm base unit that'll stand on it's own. It means though I need to get a 1000mm ish, (or just over with end panels), piece of worktop. Don't have a pic but it's a dark pine / light oak effect but not blockboard. It's only 38mm, bull nose laminate. I'm going to trawl the off cut sections in the local DIY sheds. Don't really want to buy a 2/3m length! Are there any online places anyone can recommend for small bits? Cheers
  20. ...or a V6 engine from a Capri in it!
  21. I was thinking something like this: https://the-gadgeteer.com/2016/03/17/turn-10-micro-sd-cards-into-a-sata-ssd-drive/
  22. Could you not use 2 or more SD cards in a RAID array to guard against failure?
  23. Debating say a better make but an integrated one which will be narrower.
