  1. Does the extra weight of a person (or two ) mean the tray moves down fractionally and tears the CT1? Or is the screen ever pushed against? Multisolve and re CT1 I imagine.
  2. Cheers. Probably going to have Jack's surplus one and just bolt / weld an offset plate on to centre it in the space.
  3. My Mum (88) has mixed dementia - combined vascular dementia along with Alzheimers. Docs reckon she's about 3/4 of the way through it Until fairly recently she would sit in front of the TV with the sound muted and just continually press the up/down channel button...all day long. Visual stimuli is hugely important in these cases to try and help stave off the disease progression. So make sure the lghting is bright and curtains are open. Without they will just vegetate. Music too. The stories I could tell! I do feel for you.
  4. Sadly she WANTS swivel too. Must have SWMBO's "that picture isn't straight" gene! Tbf her bed is off to the right in the picture.
  5. Hugely scientific this! By the heel of the palm method, 4x2 studs roughly where the white bits of paper are. Youngest wants me to mount her 32" LCD between wardrobe and light switch. I offered flat to the wall, she wants tilt and swivel! Must be cheap! Been looking at CPC but OMG the choice! Guessing I might have to affix say some thin Unistrut across 3 studs and fix the bracket to that? Any suggestions?
  6. Only following the diktat of the Welsh Wizard! Had Antinox down to protect the floor. The idea is the wall tile sits down on the floor tile with a credit card size gap as opposed to a grout line.
  7. Just cutting tonight:
  8. Steady there, don't excite the poor girl any more than she already is! To angle the shelf or not is still the question? At the mo in loose and raking back a tad due to the trim. Thinking dead level tbh.
  9. # vomit GIF
  10. Our grey ones were from Wilko. Can't remember the price. The £ shops sometimes do 4 tiles for £1. Limited colour choice but cheapskates can't always be choosy!
  11. Looking likely to be the screen then imo. Possibly the back light. Digging it out again / knocked in storage might have re seated the memory enough. Do you have a spare VGA lead? Does your telly have a 9-pin VGA port in which to plug said lead?
  12. Try removing and reseating the memory: https://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/sln293445/understanding-beep-codes-on-a-dell-desktop-pc?lang=en
  13. No. Aside from anything else your new one will likely be SATA. Might not be but still won't work.
  14. One of these would allow you to connect the HDD to another pc with ease. Probably even cheaper on Amazon etc. I'd lend you mine but for a fiver, postage would cost more! https://www.pcworldbusiness.co.uk/buy-rent/N029722W? Another option is booting from a Live Linux CD. Assume this only had a CD and not DVD drive.
  15. How many beeps / pauses? Generally means something. You could try connecting to the tv or another screen with a VGA lead in case it's the screen. Then press Fn and F5 probably to connect to an external "monitor".
  16. Like I said what "action" did you get when the laptop died? Did the HDD whir or just keep ticking like it was stuck. See my edited post and confirm what type of drive. By putting in a caddy you may be able to view /copy the drive contents even if the OS on that drive is corrupt and stopping it booting up.
  17. ANY screen action at all? There may be a chance you can remove the hard disc (easy), slap it in a USB hard drive caddy then connect to your current laptop to get the files off. What make and model is the XP laptop? Edit: Just read you just kept the HDD. Is it IDE or SATA?
  18. Had my M&Ds kitchen and bathroom lino'd a while back. The carpet shop fitted straight over the cracked old bitumen tiles. No underlay etc. Though they advised proper prep and underlay D wanted the cheapest job and it'll v.likely outlast him anway. That pic of mine a couple of pages back with the grey tiles. They're self adhesive, cheapest of the cheap. SWMBO laid them straight onto the well scrubbed, cleaned and dried existing lino.
  19. Same GFC100 stuff I referred to though think mine is grey rather than "natural". You suggested it to me, maybe on eBuild even? I remember now getting IPA (isopropyl alcohol) to clean the pipes after roughing up.
  20. I bloody hope so! Not knowing any better I used brown by mistake from my wc: Backed it up with white CT1: Seemed to test OK. Fingers crossed as it's all boarded over and tiled now. Used Polypipe GFC100 adhesive.
  21. Best I fit some grab handles!
  22. Ran out of muck / couldn't be ar$ed doing another mix / call of the mild ?. That and the thought of @pocster residing in the bath! ? Getting there. No cutting today just laying. More of both tomorrow.
  23. MS Project...what a load of b@ll@cks. Been there, done the course.
  24. +1, the 2G window in the bathroom refurb is a huge and obvious cold spot. Not draughty, just oddly cold when near it over it's whole area.
