Not if all disconnected! Shouldn't get continuity between N & E. Have you disconnected both ends of the ring? As in you have 6 wires (x2 live, x2 neutral and x2 earth) loose and staring at you?

Any use? You can buy a no name insulation resistance meter, "IR tester" for sub £30 on Amazon etc.

My Geberit wall drain said 1 - 2%. With my wet room corner that equated to I think 14 - 28mm. I ended up at about 20mm so circa 1.5% and it drains a treat. I was worried that you would feel the slope when you walked across it. You don't. With hindsight I'd have gone 2%.

If you're replacing more than 25% of the roof covering haven't you got to "upgrade" the roof in terms of insulation anyway and thus the felt very likely?

Nobody is suggesting it won't heat up. Just that it would likely heat up quicker and retain more heat, as well as using less fuel if there was more insulation in the floor. Underfoot I'm sure it feels lovely. Similarly your "boiler" might last longer if it's working less.
