  1. I sent my requirements to Stirbel Eltron and they recommend the DHC-E 8/10. This will be used to supply a kitchen and bathroom sink. Can anyone suggest an online supplier?
  2. I had a look at the product on line this morning and there is no mention of the need to install these additional items. Makes you wonder how many people buy the heater and never realise the need for the expansion vessel or releif valves.
  3. I had a look at a small 20litre under the sink water heater on display in a well known DIY store. The installation on display did not include an expansion vessel or pressure relief valves. In fact, they had 8 of the units for sale, but no expansion vessels or Releif valves, I assume these additional items are only required in particular special circumstances?.
  4. Ah but look at the thickness of the timber he's used, you don't get that in an off the peg Shed, they are matchwood in comparison
  5. Out of interest why is the heat loss higher from a vented cylinder to an unvent cylinder?
  6. Maybe you need to use a price of timber with a hole, slightly smaller than the rebar, drilled into them, hammer the rebar into each peice of wood to the required depth, then nail each piece of timber in the correct place across the trench formers. Do this before pouring the concrete.
  7. That is a well built shed, it's a Shed of the Year shed!
  8. In a previous house I used one of those and found the pipe crept out of the bung over time, I think it was the expansion and contraction when running hot then cold water. In the end I had to fit a DIY retaining strap to stop it happening. I now try and always use solvent weld all the time.
  9. When I search "garage building costs" I got quite a selection of both steel and timber double garages in the 'Shopping' tab, priced at around £5,000. Might be worth shopping around.
  10. According to the news it's the volume builders that need BC checks, as is they who are failing to meet the standards! https://www.ft.com/content/4a6cff98-ea01-11e6-967b-c88452263daf
  11. Ah good point, so the reducer is male and the coupling is female. Makes sense, as the 110 is going into a female fitting, so why not the same for the other end!
  12. I've found that the solvent weld stuff is all non-standard, i.e. Brand A fittings will not fit Brand B pipe. You need to take the reducer with you when shopping and make sure it fits!
  13. Is that the finished price, erected, clad, rendered, roofed etc?
  14. Got my last one done at Howdens for free, bought the units elsewhere.
  15. I find that most of these cheap sheds are a bit on the flimsy side, The cladding is a bit thin only 7mm. Ideally I'd like cladding to be around 15mm thick.
  16. I need an 8x6 foot Shed to use as a utility room during our main build. I've looked at the price of buying a shed and now I'm thinking it would be cheaper to build my own shed, it can't be that difficult! So what would you buy or build the shed?
  17. So if there's land available in the North and not the South, then channel all future business development grants to businesses to in the North, that should sort out the population imbalance in the long run!
  18. One of the UK's largest housebuilders has called for a "critical reassessment" of green belt land to help solve Britain's housing shortage. Legal & General chief executive Nigel Wilson said that if 1% of green belt was released for building, it would be enough for up to one million new homes. And the L&Q housing association said Britain faced a choice: build on "green field" or continue with a shortage. Source - BBC So it's a shortage of land and not a lack of skilled labour that's stopping the UK building houses!
  19. I noticed the other day Asda have 5 litre Dulux white paint on offer at £10.
  20. Over £12,000 for plumbing the above sounds a lot to me. I assume you got more than one quote?
  21. Unfortunately there is no simple answer as who would normally supply these things, each builder is different. If you want a full turnkey package you could ask the builder to give you a price for these three items.
  22. We've cut out caffeine altogether and we sleep a lot better. If I did wake up during the night it's always at 4am! I'm one of those lucky people who can switch off at night and not think about work or self build problems. My old boss, rather than do lists, would fire off emails if he woke up worrying. It was a regular thing to get an email at 2am!
  23. @DavidFrancis I've used Berrys in Leyland for loads of stuff, they are probably one of the very best builders merchants in the U.K. Unfortunately it's a 100mile round trip. I had looked in three local timber merchants (20mile round trip) but none had tantalised weatherboard in stock, hence my desire to find an online supplier who will deliver at a reasonable cost.
  24. I've tried four suppliers within 100 mile and those that do deliver here are quoting silly haulage costs.
