+1 to not using supplied screws, they are usually crap. If you must then as @ProDave says drill a pilot hole and either use a hand screwdriver or use the clutch on your driver.

Although I am not bad at plastering I never got on well with rendering 🤷‍♂️ GAMI (get a man in)

Gas & solar or air source heat pump
joe90 replied to JoePlant's topic in Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
+1 for ASHP and solar, save the cost of gas installation and standing order. Just make sure you get a good installer who knows how to design and set it up properly. The grid is getting greener so you will be doing your bit fir the planet. -
Then just crack on, you cannot be expected to not build and I am sure the planners will not see this as a reasonable objection

Interesting as that is not yet on the gov website?

New (to me) nail guns. Where best to get info.
joe90 replied to saveasteading's topic in General Joinery
I bought all my (non paslode) nails and gas from a local tool shop cheaper than anywhere else. No, but I did point out what I had done and he was not fussed 🤷‍♂️ -

In cold weather Get the customer (or wife!) to make you a cup of tea or coffee then put the gas canister in it to warm it up, works wonders in cold weather 🤷‍♂️. Well I once fired a nail through a finger, said nail hit another nail and did a 90’ turn out the side of the timber I was holding 🙄. Keeps hands and feet well away. Saying that I loved my first and second fix paslodes and only sold them recently. -
I agree especially if their garden is large and the overshadowing is small, I would plough on if that’s the only objection and let the planners decide, if it’s refused a second, broadly similar application is fee free or an appeal is fairly simple and you can do it yourself.

When I had my new electric supply put in it was to a box on posts right next to where the garage was being built, when the garage was built (with a hole for the meter box) I shifted it into the garage wall myself. I had already buried a suitable cable from garage location to the house.

If building houses relied on casting no shadows on other properties most houses would not be built! Casting shadow on windows is another subject IMO. So don’t mention it.

A bit like NHBC 🤷‍♂️

What is the life expectancy of the Ecoflo septic system? 15 years The Ecoflo compact biofilter's all-natural filtering medium is guaranteed for 10 years and its lifespan can extend well beyond 15 years. this does not seem very long?

That’s all well and good but what’s the bloody answer🤷‍♂️ -
I used black CT1 recently in cold conditions, I didn’t find it difficult to use but sticks like sh1t to anything (including skin and difficult to remove, I used foam gun cleaner ). So don’t be over enthusiastic with it, I do get the theory about clear being better (as you can’t see cock ups ).

Don’t let @SteamyTea catch you using “thermal mass” he will get his knickers in a twist 🤣🤣🤣 I don’t know the figures but insulating internally will make the room heat up quicker , thermal mass (sorry) will store heat but needs heating so will absorb heat out of the house but keep heat levels more stable. -

Adhesive or grout is never used on tiles. This parapet is sloped so water will run away. not the same as a horizontal parapet.- 44 replies
