  1. Bollocks, it needs to be planned properly and the pipe spacing is down to this, insulation, heat demand etc etc ?‍♂️.
  2. My wooden windows have stuck on glazing bars (double sided tape) and they look really good. The only problem with stick on, to a velux is the water/rain will not be able to run off Past the bar ?‍♂️
  3. @Johnny Jekyll reason for asking type of blocks, aerated blocks can be cut by hand saw, scratch that one. ?
  4. @zoothorn, yes lime is best fir old stone buildings but as this is such a small area, in a porch and not covering the stone just go with 4:1 and a little plasticiser if you have any, it’s such a small area it’s not going to cause global warming/fall down. It sounds like your old barn was lime, it takes much longer to go off which is why you brushed it the next day. Using 4:1 sand cement will go off much faster so you need to brush it off after 1 or 2 hours with a fairly soft brush, it will still be wet enough to not be dusty but solid enough to not fall out/leave large marks. Crack on mate ?
  5. Have you built the wall yet?, what blocks are you using for the inner skin?
  6. Shame it’s been so stressful for you but looks like it’s being sorted (at last), see, I told you I hate tech (apps and all that sh1t),
  7. ???? will give it a go
  8. Welcome, wow what a project (jealous emoji). From my reading the GSHP gubbins is noisy and indoors whereas ASHP are outdoors and can have ventilated cladding to reduce the already low noise level.
  9. I disagree. @Nickfromwales ? Your thoughts please. ?
  10. Yes I do, currently back on for this cold snap but usually in the summer it’s off.
  11. Bloody IPad, it does not matter which way I take photos it turns them around, ?
  12. Not necessarily, I have two DPC,S. The bottom DPC is sloped in the cavity to carry moisture out via weep vents, the upper DPC is to stop rain splash soaking the wall.
  13. my other half is the same, but is always wearing her sunglasses ?‍♂️.
  14. Perhaps give them a good allowance but make them pay the electricity bill from it (and give them a copy of the usage and amount it costs).
  15. Not as old school as me......
  16. I too bought a stiebel Eltron in case it’s needed, still in its box in the loft. A agree with @ProDave about stat pockets but have found the upper one of mine is fine fir the two of us but can move it to the lower one when guests descend (hopefully soon ?‍♂️).
  17. I would not worry about the lime fir the second coat as the first had none, it does make the mix a bit more easy to use but you could add a little plasticiser to it to do the same job.
  18. False switches (real ones hidden) ?
  19. So nowhere near the 50% ? go tell your neighbour. ?
  20. yes but I do not have his knowledge to find my own solutions which is why I mourn his leaving us ?
  21. Was it?, I may be wrong but how was Jerry going to get very hot water from an ASHP? If so that’s why his losses were high (and the cupboard door buckled ?)
  22. Drawings from the extension build including garden length?
  23. Presumably you will need paving on those bricks, but as @PeterW says, barely over the 300mm. Have you any design drawings for your extension with heights?. Just raise the ground beyond the brick wall a few inches.
  24. oh I don’t know, this farms had a pedigree bread herd fir generations and been a successful farm fir that time, only now he wants to emigrate to Canada, nice little earner with no input. quote from gov.uk........sub grade 3a - good quality agricultural land
  25. Ha, we are in Devon ?40% of the 147 acres they propose is 3a, that’s on top of the 4 other solar farms in our small village area, we already have.
