  1. I lined a chimney recently and used a plate similar to @Gone West posted above, chimney pot and flue cap (to stop rain) but make sure it’s got a wire cage to stop birdies nesting in your chimney, (ask me how I know ?) , oh and make sure it’s stainless steel, others will rust out in months.
  2. I did sand it and primed it with SBR ?.
  3. Might be worth putting on a Clear coat after it’s stopped bulging and dry before you start hacking it off or applying even more rain screen. ?‍♂️ As I said above it’s certainly sealed our bricks on the west wall.
  4. When I built a garage on a similar slope years ago my SE insisted on block on flat plus vertical block, total 400mm thick retaining wall, slightly OTT in my opinion. If it were me I would get some flat steel say 2m x 50mm by 8mm, bend in the middle and strap the top row of blocks round the corner with concrete screws, this will spread the load and stop the blocks being pushed off.
  5. I have a buffer tank, mainly to stop short cycling and keep the antifreeze in the ASHP only. If you have that many loops then the amount of water you will have will be much larger than mine so maybe not required in youre case. Some here have no buffer, horses for courses.
  6. I would call her bluff, say you have had it inspected and nothing you have done can have caused those cracks. If youre house was so bad then frankly under her wallpaper is likely to be nearly as bad. As said above be nice, but firm, some neighbours just love to blame anyone working any where near their home and have no idea about the work you are doing.
  7. Well I have LVT without UFH in the family bathroom glued directly to caberdeck and no problems at all, I don’t see why it would need ply, caberdeck is very stable ?‍♂️
  8. Can’t you position legs between the stuff below it to make a platform? You cant hang it from the wall but the joists above may be ok, you could bolt timbers to both the top and bottom cord to spread the load.?
  9. But your tenant has moved out ?.
  10. The only thing I got wrong on my build was this. Just 12.5mm board with 100mm insulation between joists (passed building regs) but can hear TV and voices from downstairs when in bedrooms ?, I wish I had double boarded and resilient bars at least ?
  11. I used self levelling compound to “bury” the electric floor heating element in our en suite and that is on caberdeck. LVT on top and no probs .
  12. What are the walls made of? Will it fit in a corner (so two walls or more are involved)? Perhaps a diagram that will make it easier to discuss.
  13. I have been looking for a two post car lift but at my age I won’t be doing anything serious, also mine was built under permitted development (whilst fighting successfully for planning) so I am limited with height. ?‍♂️, just need to build a shed fir my tractor and implements to free up space.
  14. My garage is about 6m x 12m and is too small ?‍♂️, it’s full already and my day to day car is not In it. NOTE, do not call it a workshop on your plans as VAT is not reclaimable on a workshop but can be on a garage.
  15. I don’t like any render, period, which is why I have brick. However even at the opposite end of the country (but near the Atlantic) our west wall was soaked right through to the insulation last winter (but it did not wick ?). I coated it In a Sealer and now the water runs off it like glass. Might be worth trying (as long as it does not invalidate any guarantee, not that they think you have one ?). don’t be afraid to bad mouth Baumit, they won’t like bad publicity, get Ian to write/translate a letter to their head office with a link to this forum (so we can all gang up on them ?).
  16. A garage is reclaimable but a workshop not. Don’t know about the summerhouse
  17. Depends how slim your fingers are, can be difficult to get in there, sometimes you can spin the pedestal out/around a bit but not completely to give the basin some support.
  18. It should be in the trap, not sure what type you have, it’s behind the pillar holding up the basin.
  19. On the subject of doors, I trimmed one of mine into the particle board and just sealed it with coats of varnish, you never see it. If you plant on the bottom it will look different to the other edges so why bother?
  20. No, it was this one I used https://www.sealantsandtoolsdirect.co.uk/everbuild-lumberjack-650-hybrid-polymer-wood-floor-adhesive-14kg?language=en-gb&currency=GBP&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjenMvtjS9AIVhe3tCh2aGQMgEAQYASABEgLnp_D_BwE
  21. I glued to a screed and yes a primer is required. I was recommended “lumberjack”, not sure it was this one exactly. Still leave a small expansion gap round the edges which can be covered up by the skirting https://www.sealantsandtoolsdirect.co.uk/everbuild-lumberjack-160-wood-flooring-adhesive-ljack16010?language=en-gb&currency=GBP&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIhpip4tXS9AIVkevtCh06mAYfEAQYFiABEgKa5PD_BwE
  22. But do you still want three spaces?
  23. But was this not done? So are you saying not only must they be consulted but their permission sought? So highways did change their mind eh?
  24. +1 wot @ProDave said, then you can tidy up in the summer and put them away.
  25. I don’t think the highways dept have changed their mind. it really depends if you want two or three parking spaces, if you want two then amend (but refuse to pay their fee as it’s their “change of mind “ not yours). If you want three tell them they cannot change their mind and call their bluff ?.
