I recently built my brothers decking and handrail and spindles like @PeterW says above is the best/easiest way, the handrail comes with spacers as well, just modify the corner posts to sit the rail on, my brothers posts were also 4x4 👍

Can’t do any harm to wrap in another covering. I remember where I heard about the “black “ I used to work for BT and was told cables that were external had black added to counteract the effects of UV, whereas cables underground did not need that protection.

I have a long pole (extendable)with brush (can be fed water up it) but I prefer to use a ladder to clean first floor windows. The pole tho is good for the conservatory roof.

Difficult to tell but that crack appears to stop at floor level and stop above the timber so I don’t believe movement has occurred above or below that crack.

Looks to me like the corbelled brickwork leans on that timber and the timber has bowed a bit and the Mortor is soft. Try a straight edge against the wood and see if it is straight!. I would be tempted to diagonally brace that timber, rake out and re point the crack and surrounding brickwork. IMO it’s not going anywhere soon.

Well my chipboard floor was new, all joints filled with d4 glue as they should be so no filling required (and the shower tray was installed on the chipboard). Ply is usually used to even out a floor, say floorboards which will curl, move etc.

🤣🤣🤣🤣, yes they are very clever, my chicken run was built on 200mm of rolled MOT, they got through that 🤷‍♂️, then I ran chicken wire underneath it, they simply dug up to it so the chicken food fell through into their tunnels. Yum yum. Our neighbour gave up keeping chickens on account of rats.

I laid LVT on moisture proof 22mm chipboard T@G and no problems at all, sold as a rock.

I worked on a neighbours house and previously the mortgage company when they bought it insisted they put in soffit vents, I discovered when I stripped the roof that the brickwork was tight against the back of the felt so no ventilation at all got into the loft!!!!,, I cured that by removing the top row of bricks laid between the rafters 🤷‍♂️

Well you have enough gap/air this end 🤣, it looks like the gap further back if stuffed with something 🤔, you only need about 10mm continuous (mostly) fir air. Is the other side ventilated (crossflow).

NO, A rat got into my STP and blocked a pipe, smells alerted me and after “fishing” i got it out, I had no grill on the outlet pipe to a ditch which is where it must have got in, I simply used a grill fir the top of a vent stack.

You will have to get the trenches inspected by building control before you fill them!

No such thing as a stupid question, stupid is not asking 👍despite what the SE says it’s the building inspector that makes the decision on ground conditions once the trenches are dug (and clean, scrapped flat and smooth). I would say dig 1100 from existing floor level, the thickness of the concrete poured should be specified by the SE but some do full fill pours (trench filled to top, saves laying blocks in a trench).

Just watched it on catchup and yes great for some people, fully fitted out, a bit like the old huf house. Yes I am sure building blocks of the same design would work out much cheaper. Shame they didn’t go through the insulation type/thickness and airtightness details etc . (For us nerds🤔).
