  1. Right then, how thick does this stuff have to be for ; shower room splash back kitchen (non heat-sensitive areas) 3mm, 5mm? does it matter? Looking at this site (local to me)
  2. Yep: exactly what we need: annoyingly German innit?
  3. @Pete, do you mean Eclisse doors, or sliding partitions? We need both. So I'm looking for answers to this problem too. Ian
  4. SWMBO has fallen in love. With acrylic splashbacks. While on the one hand wanting to make her happy, the other says I can be my usual mean self while sourcing one (them). I have done this google search, but out of caution I just thought I'd check with you all. Presumably I'd have to have to invest in an 80 tooth saw blade to cut it on my cross cut saw?
  5. Hugh, what's the end in mind? Do you have a recycled water system in the house?
  6. I am planning to build a bin store as a two meter section at one end of our piggery. And because I can be really cack-handed, there's a hose point and a drain. Yogurt stinks if it isn't sluiced away. A metal gate should prevent our inventive foxes from their normal Tom-Thievery.
  7. Popping into our flat roof and Piggery roof. We might be able to line the container with bits of it. I have created a separate EPS store and I'm saving every last bit. I have @TerryE and many others to thank for the tip. Ian
  8. And that's exactly what happened on our recent pour(s)
  9. I have a relative for whom the process of building tools (diggers among them) is such an obsession that he still hasn't finished redecorating the kitchen. That job started 18 years ago. Remind you of anyone?
  10. Love the style. That floor will be Hell to clean
  11. I'll see your fancy sliding ThingAmyJig and raise you one of these ...... Yeah baby! I need one No, I need one . You just don't understand do you? Flounce.
  12. This is exactly the type of thing which causes mature people like use to abuse the word 'need' in exactly the same way that our teenage children do, (and we didn't when teenagers ourselves)
  13. @PeterW has forgotten more about windows than most of us will ever know. I think he may be on holiday at the moment. Wait until he gets back, Lucy. Ian
  14. Our newts are stunningly beautiful, inoffensive creatures - we cherish them. The ecology sector on the other hand..... where professional judgement varies by individual practitioner despite clear licensing guidelines..... we despise.
  15. Quick price check, please. We own two adjacent plots of land; Salamander Cottage and Number 1. Our new off mains processing thingamajig will be 'housed' on Number One's land. So we need a Deed of Easement for Salamander Cottage to inspect and maintain the tank. £500 + VAT plus Land registry fees. About right?
  16. I think I'm right in saying that was at least part of the rationale for our successful application. Bless SWMBO for buying it in 1985.
  17. But you wouldn't miss the midges.......
  18. Many of us here are young-at-heart decrepit old farts; struggling with how things were done back then and how they are now, shaking our heads in sometimes gleeful disbelief. Downloadable coordinates accurate to a few mm, laser measurement accurate to fewer; overnight deliveries to a post code. And the fast disappearing art of common-sense checking. Hence we 'lost' 157mm recently, and over pressured delivery drivers steer themselves into the rat trap from Hell: our lane. As @Jack says, Old Skool's welcome. Add my welcome to the list. Ian
  19. £600 for our private inspectors. Prompt, courteous, helpful. Very nice man. Very very nice man. No, honest!
  20. Hello, and welcome. Looking back, the one thing I can say about planning a build: my taste changed over time - first we wanted a chocolate box house in a chocolate box hamlet, in a chocolate box bit of Lancashire. And we now have a passivhaus ( well nearly) under way.
  21. Naaaah me neither. Should be load of local lads and Scouts washing dogs for that well known local charity : SpellCheckersRus
  22. How long am I on holiday for? A weekend: don't bother to unpack; washing straight into a large air-tight poly bag in the suitcase. A week: I do unpack but I need somewhere to hang the 'washing' bag, and a stubbed-toe-safe-place to put the suitcase. Where can I put dripping wet running / walking / cycling kit so that I don't damage your property? Longer: all the above plus and ironing board and drying room, somewhere to hang Deb's dresses and a decent jacket and shirt Built in wardrobes are VAT efficient. Stand alones aren't.
  23. No. But it's outrageous to charge for a Decision Notice. I mean realllllly, for a Decision Notice, reeeeaaaally? Auf die Barrikaden Jungs! Aux armes les citoyens! Up the Revolution Citizens! Freedom for Tooting!
