  1. Correct, though you are not supposed to notice.
  2. Have a look at this thread, similar issue as I did not want to put a hole through the roof.
  3. Pleased you have found the problem, I having been using the Shelley EM with ct clamps for just over a year now, excellent product and app.
  4. I fitted 3 pocket doors on our new build and have just replaced the one into the living room with a hinged door due to poor sound insulation and the rest of family unable to ever close them. Would suggest looking at quality glazed French / sliding doors for reception if you do want a quieter space.
  5. Winter months we use about 15 kWh / day and daily average annually is 7.5kWh / day for both heating and DHW.
  6. A lot of people will comment on the accuracy of an EPC however, The paragraph below is from my EPC, I built my own interpretation of a passive house spec, heaps of insulation, air tight, MVHR blah etc. Current primary energy use per square metre of floor area: 35 kWh/m² per year according to EPC. One of the biggest contributors to global warming is carbon dioxide. The energy we use for heating, lighting and power in homes produces over a quarter of the UK’s carbon dioxide emissions. The average household causes about 6 tonnes of carbon dioxide every year. Based on this assessment, your home currently produces approximately 1.4 tonnes of carbon dioxide every year. You could reduce emissions by switching to renewable energy sources.
  7. Looks very similar to Tata Colorcoat Urban roof I installed myself. The ridge was fixed with the supplied colour coded rivetts at regular intervals and connector piece also had sealant applied when the ridges butted up flush. Those clips look awful and the gap in the ridge is not acceptable.
  8. Was just writing similar reply as @Moonshine. ASHP will work fine.
  9. My original claim took about 7 months with one invoice being rejected due to illegible vat number. Resubmitted the single invoice in February and paid today, about a 10 week turnaround.
  10. The footprint of the bedroom block is 12 metres x 7 metres, we put 2 bedrooms and and 2 bathrooms upstairs. I will send some finished external photos later. have a quick look here
  11. Just a quick answer, yes for rooms above the ground floor with vaulted ceilings. Our eaves height was 4 metres and ridge height 6 metres. Obviously no loft space but bright bedrooms with gable end windows and Velux. Others will be along with help.
  12. I have just fitted 60sqm of Parador 914mm x 457mm x 6mm LVT and used a table saw, circular saw and jigsaw. Tile first before fitting the WC as others have mentioned. If using a Stanley do a couple of test strips first.
  13. BPC do provide airflow calculations. Building Control will require a commissioning report. Have a look at the thread enclosed.
  14. What a lovely maisonette in NW5. Just looked at the Architects website and is indeed hi spec / finish and a price to match, 5 to 6K sqm. In South London I would expect to pay half that. Its a London Ting. BTW your Cost Plan PDF is readable, hence looking at your architects site.
  15. We have used the TP Link below. Simple and effective.
  16. Hi Conor, would you mind sharing the model numbers of your kit. Trying to get my head around all this. Thank you.
  17. Looks like a Propane gas regulator.
  18. @oldsteel Paid yesterday, after my first phone call in January turn around time was 5 weeks. I did call them on Tuesday about a rejected invoice due to an illegible vat number which I have now resupplied. They said they are now processing December.
  19. Unexpectedly my invoices were returned today via Royal Mail with accompanying letter saying payment will be made within 10 days. They excluded one invoice saying it was a pro forma? not sure but will contest it as it has nearly a grand of VAT. All I can recommend is send your invoices and documents using a secure guaranteed service and then phone them for a reference number and call them regularly. Mine took nearly 6 months.

  22. Some friends bought a new build on an estate and offered a rather awkward parcel of land adjoining the curtilage which they purchased. Detached and end of cul de sac. They have just secured planning for large double garage and accommodation above. No guarantees but if the price is right, go for it.
  23. Thanks for the reply. I do appreciate MVHR in the new build, do some MVHR systems have a heater to boost the heat recovery supply?
  24. Regarding MVHR even with heat recovery, during the recent low temperatures the incoming supply is about 16c which is then constantly lowering the internal room temperature which then requires more UFH input. Wondering if it is worth switching the unit off during these periods or is this a limitation of MVHR.
