  1. Ah, so estate agent speak then, like my 3bed semi, that's in reality a 2&1/2 bed semi?
  2. Is it really detached tho,? No offence to the OP, But when I saw the picture I thought he'd actually missed out semi accidentally, If an estate agent showed me this as a detached house I think I'd probably laugh at them.
  3. IPA ? Don't know if it would be any good on an absorbent surface such as wood , but it may be a milder, gentler option to try first though, ?
  4. They missed a few KEL keep 'er lit GYBY G'wan ye boi ye
  5. I tell thee, Cut the flag off the 2nd trim and gripfill,
  6. I'm pretty sure there used to be some guidance about the pan having to be able to contain the full contents of the cistern in case it did get blocked @ProDave If the float level can't be adjusted enough, The other option is to put a brick in it
  7. Sorry, you are correct, this needs confirmed first.
  8. Or, Try manually turning the clock to an 'ON' position, See if the boiler fires, But, deffo sounds like a dodgy clock.
  9. is D-LINE a half round? or is it more a 1/3rd.?
  10. my tuppence houses are not expensive, the land they are built on is expensive, and getting permission to build on said land can be expensive say an plot of land is £5K , that same plot of land with full PP will now be worth £50K therein lies the expense, I've priced out a standardish 2&1/2 bed detached timber frame could be put up for about 30 - 40K, OK, no fancy finish, but perfectly liveable.
  11. run a bead of gripfill along and finger squeeze until it 'looks' right ?
  12. Salt ? That will 'etch' concrete
  13. Your camera can cover the public area directly in front of your property without any adverse effects providing it doesnt encompass a private area also
  14. the plasterer was best man at my wedding, Him and his wife are now my lads godparents too, I spanner for him at MGP and most national bike races, I've known him for near 30years now, and my mum grew up next door to his dad, plumber/gasman, known for almost as long, and yes, you know your friends when you are in a tight spot.
  15. right, you are getting caught up with it being a polis matter, if I could really be bothered I could get you the guidelines for mounting CCTV on private property, but you can google them yourself, a person can have your cctv camera removed if they 'feel' it invades their privacy, their is no onus of proof required! that is fact, it matters not one jot if the polis look at it and see it only covers your property, the case is in the feeling of invasion, argue all you want, it wont change how the law actions on it. public property is a different matter,
  16. oh, btw, its a howdens, a 2nd I think, it didnt come directly from howdens, hence how cheap I got it, and crappy doors, but, for the price, cant complain, its made from 'bits' over ordered on various jobs, hence the doors being different so I had enough matching doors,
  17. me! well, the wife actually, it was actually fitted just after we moved in (9years ago) as a temporary measure until we got sorted, we got the house on 21st (iirc) dec 2007 and had to be out of previous house (rental) by 6th Jan 2008, so I had 2 weeks to re-wire present house and have it liveable with SWMBO expecting our first child in March 2008, young lad I worked with came and butt&scribed our worktops on NYE for me, a mate flew over from Isle of Man on 28th dec and done my plastering, another mate flew over from norn iron and sorted out my plumbing and fitted a 'new' (reconditioned) boiler for me, I finished (well functional) the bathroom on 2nd Jan, the (now) wifes cousin and niece done most of the painting and wallpapering, kitchen (inc worktops , tiling etc, and fitting them, but not including appliances) cost me iro £450 including calling in some favours,
  18. The 'drawer' handle under the sink needed 5mm shaved off it to allow the drawer beside the cooker to open, Our whole kitchen is off centre by 3 mm to allow the drawer on the opposite side of cooker to open past its 90degree sibling. that's how tight it is, with 400mm units either side. I even had to plane down the corner insets to fit. I know its not on the same scale as some of you guys, but I'd say same applies no matter how big, make sure your appliances will fit where SWMBO actually wants them,
  19. You can take the law how you want to, But I've been there numerous times, The person controlling the CCTV simply gets a court order telling them to remove the offending camera or they will receive a summons. It really is that simple, The aggrieved has nothing to prove, other than perceived invasion, the person controlling said system has to prove beyond reasonable doubt it didn't happen, Basically it comes down to this, if you have a high level camera at the rear of your property, and you can see next doors garden from an upstairs window in your property, they have enough grounds for you to remove said camera. It really is that straightforward. Reasonable grounds that you may be invading their privacy, that's how the law works in regards to private CCTV systems.
  20. Not in the case of a private CCTV system, I've been down this route with the polis, I install them, The only requirement is the 'intimidation' of having your privacy invaded, (for want if a better phrase) Whether your CCTV actually invades their privacy or not is of no concern in the matter, the judgement must always fall with the person feeling intimidated. sorry, but that's how it works, you can though, have a registered system that is inspected by the polis and different rules apply.
  21. Or try Machine Mart, Sealey and Clarke are the same thing in reality, for most things.
  22. Or, if you have a small kitchen in a 2&1/2 bed semi let your wife buy a bfo range cooker and design your kitchen around that,!!!!!
  23. As I said Previously, all it requires is for an individual to claim they 'feel' it invades their privacy, whether it actually does or not is irrelevant, If your neighbour claims they feel their privacy is being invaded you MUST remove the camera. Their is NO proof required, and screening is irrelevant.
  24. by the way, that 1gang 1 way switch I fitted for them, I think I wired it wrong, I'm going to have to go back and check, just to be sure,
