  1. I have thought about trying to convert One of my first fix paslode guns to fire without having to be pressed up against something. It would stop an intruder, and drop them to the floor. You could them walk up to them, and finish them off with a couple of taps to the head. I do sometimes worry about my what goes through my mind.
  2. I don't know, but the idea of ducting appeals. If you ever wanted to upsize one of the pipes, you could pull through, rather than digging up.
  3. Well i recon i am very Green. The only car i own is a Daimler made in 1975. So it's 40 years old, and was made in the UK from British steel by geezers paying tax to the brit gov on the wages they earned while building it. It would have had a carbon cost when building it, but nobody computed how much the carbon cost was, because none of them had heard of computers, or carbon cost at the time. It is 4.2 litres, and drinks like Billy the fish, but i don't do much mileage. Now i could dump it, and go out and buy a nice electric car, but that, i have no doubt would have a high carbon cost in production, let alone all these batteries people speak of. I might just be the greenest person on here ? No solar panels built in China. The only batteries come from the corner shop, and they are only tiny little AA ones for my torch, and no electric car.?
  4. I believe, but am happy to be corrected, If you have 100mm above, you can have 100mm inbetween, pushed up tight. I was told that you can't have more inside, than you have outside, and you should always try to have less. ie;100mm outside, 50mm inside. To be honest i thought it sounded strange, but was given this information from an engineer. I think it might have been BS to get over a problem.
  5. I don't know the answer, but i recently threw away the few JG fittings i had, as the last Two times i have used Hep. I would'nt mix them but that is just me.
  6. Just a thought, I think you might also have to have a silt catcher before you can discharge rainwater into the sewage system
  7. Had One on a site a few years back. No idea on make, or electricty usage, but it worked very well. It was used to power about 4000sq ft of underfloor heating while waiting for a gas connection.
  8. Welcome. I would also keep one eye on the saleability. Be careful of any future purchaser being able to get a mortgage. Non standard construction still makes it more difficult to get a mortgage in England. (Seems much easier in Scotland)
  9. Going to be a stunner.
  10. You is da bad ass
  11. Either that, or pure luck ???
  12. Don't know if you have noticed fella. There is a soil pipe very near where you have broken through. You should be able to join up with that.
  13. That 90 bend looks so much better than your previous efforts. ??
  14. That made me laugh. I don't know why, be it reminded me of when i did a cinema for a client. He said to me after "You can't watch porn on it, because it gives you a huge inferiority complex" I think you can all guess why.
  15. It is a difficult one. When i had my kitchen company. I would spend a good few days designing a kitchen that would look stunning, and perform the tasks, and needs, and wants of the client. They were high end hand built, and generally in excess of 50k. I stopped giving out my drawings when i designed a kitchen that was £127k +vat. The client loved it. I never got the job, and found out later that the celeb client did'nt think i would be able to do the kitchen for that price. They gave my design to another company, who copied it exactly, right down to the personalised engraving on some of the wood, and charged £200k. I was miffed, so i would say, go to the company who did the design. You never know, they might even have built it and have some real world ideas of how it could be even better.
  16. I do think Nick is the fountain of knowledge on all things water.......Very handy chap to have on here. Thanks Fella.
  17. Boiler sorted. Hero dad. It was the spark igniter. Housed right at the top of the boiler. Full of water and obviously causing a short. Had a shake, and then got the hair drier on it for 10mins. Just goes to show that the fault code it was showing was right. The annoying thing is that it was all caused by the plate exchanger spraying water all over the place. The new plate exchanger was £87, but the agro it caused was priceless..... The boiler was put in by a good mate, and I was there. Straight in, no leaks etc. Now if you can see from the photo, the bottom of the plate exchanger is deformed.... I bet it leaked at the factory when tested, and was overtightened at the factory to stop the leak. I expect that's what you get for buying a cheap boiler. Ravenheat cs80. They never bloody break in the summer. Rest of the day is mine, so I'm going for a lie down.
  18. Thanks Nick. I'm going to give that a go.
  19. Only other thing i might check is the output from the board to the gas valve. I can do that with a multi meter. I think it's 24v to the gas valve. I bet the board is at fault, although i bet the plumber says gas valve. we shall see.
  20. Not many of those around. I had w/b service engineer out a while back. He just kept chucking in new parts untill he got it working.
  21. Yes it was fella. The book says error 01E ...No flame......Check the gas supply.....Ain't touched that......Check the overheat thermostat.....Not been near that.....Check the gas valve.......Ain't, and won't be going near that.......Check the spark igniter......Check the electrodes..... I am thinking water in the control board.....I don't mind mucking with the wet side, but it's over 25 years since i was Corgi. I won't touch gas these days.......I bet the plumber says Gas valve, and i bet it ain't.
  22. Done the on/off. Error code01 is gas supply/ignition problem. And i did'nt bloody touch any of that. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
  23. What a pain. Call from my daughter this afternoon. Dad water persisting out of my boiler, all over my bathroom floor.... I go round, switch off the boiler electric supply. Shut off all the water valves, cold supply, central heating flow and return, and mop up. Take the cover off the boiler and start drying up. plate exchanger leaking. Got the same boiler sitting in my garage. Nip down and take out the plate exchanger. Drain her boiler, fitted the new exchanger. Took off her filter as it had service valves. Cleaned that. Topped up the system, and even put in some more inhibiter. Bled all the rads. Rock and roll, ready to turn the power back on. Click. Bit of start up noise......error code 01. Grabbed the book. Error code 01 is gas/ignition problem.....but i ain't touched those.....pressed the reset clear button....Boiler tries to start, fan kicks in etc, but won't fire....Error code 01 again.....So i said to the boiler "I ain't touched the bloody gas" .....hard reset (Basically hold the re-set button for 20 seconds).....same error 01 code...... So now i am going to have to get a plumber who will no doubt tell me, needs a new gas valve mate.......And i bet i dont.....Only other thing i can think is that when spraying out water some of it might have got onto the control board, although when i had a look, that did'nt seem to be the case. The joy of plumbing, and daughters....Lets see what tomorrow brings.
  24. Yep. Free flowing into the toilet cistern.
  25. What a twat. Missed pic
