Most of our commercial jobs separating offices and even bedrooms on Student accommodation use 25 mil and 50 for 300 mil party walls It’s simply to stop the sound bouncing around
-
25-50 mil of iso acoustic insulation is plenty

Your probably better putting up a drawing with your question

Vaulted Ceiling Extract Position
nod replied to Jambutty's topic in Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
I’ve had to put ours at 1500 on the wall As designed Not ideal But preferable to long runs of ducting I thought there would be a minimum height But BC stated High as possible -
It sends what you mean by sewer pipes 4-6 inch pipes are easy to divert or build over Larger main sewage runs arnt But are mapped out and easy to identify (manhole covers)

I’m currently pricing four self builds for render plastering and tiling All four have purchased the plots from an individual While he’s done all the site surveys and sorted out the planning for each individual home He’s not the main contractor But for a small fee he will bring in Groundwork’s bricklayers etc and a bit of hand holding also The self builders are responsible for paying for materials and contractors I think this is a really good business model The seller sold the plots within six weeks The buyers no exactly when there build can be started There’s no incentive for contractors to overcharge as he has two more of these in the pipeline He reckons there will be about 25% saving on a turnkey build Without the hassle of trying to find trade All are individual designs 2 TF 2 Solids Perhaps the way forward in uncertain times

A lot of companies don’t want generic products I’m governed by the bill of quantities
-
These are 15% up on what we are paying at the moment But still not much in it
-
A lot of jobs won’t let me use Knauff mor G ltech
-
Just thought I’d post a price list BG have sent me for the next 9 months It’s shows how little there is between someone buying one boards and someone like myself who buys thousands Wickes often sell multi finish for less than I buy it

Help please with this roof build-up - can anyone help?
nod replied to Tom's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
They should really have said that they would prefer it It’s normally Architects that add it to the spec About 50-50 If it’s in your building materials spec You are stuck with it If it’s not thank BC for the ADVISE and tell them your good -

VCL isn’t a requirement BC often prefer it As a plastering contractor I price lots of jobs each year Some specifing VCL Most not I didn’t use one on our previous build and won’t on this one I would prefer a foil backed board But the majority of house builders don’t even do that When I quote for VCL it’s normally around £9 m2 supply and fit -
I can’t remember ever working on a housing site that doesn’t have mains gas I suppose if there’s so many units they can go to great lengths to get gas on site Our friends self built two years ago and went for LPG over HP and bitterly regret it now

To be fair most jobs we use T bar 3mtr are to big to handle at heights

How expensive would you like your planning violation?
nod replied to joth's topic in Planning Permission
Theres an exclusive development about 20 miles from me where the builders have been ordered to demolish the lot due to planning breaches Councils seem to be getting tough on planning breaches -
Your going to struggle No one keeps them Ordered in them straight out T bar and a 600 piece Just looking at my books I get charged £40 plus vat for part pallets on specials You could offer to pay that It’s only two and a half boards
-
New development seems overcrowded. Is this even permitted?
