Depending on the condition You may get someone who will want part of it or all of it for free Advertise it online If your left with a concrete base Your digger will make fast work of it when you start your build and use it on site
-
Probably better in sand and cement Most of the backing plasters are outdated now
-
You can’t fix tile on to bonding It will need to be skimmed I wouldn’t use bonding in a wet area as it acts like a sponge and crumbles Bit late now but he could have dabed Hardy backers on the used a knockin to mechanically hold the backers

Polished concrete floor with underfloor heating. What are the steps?
nod replied to flanagaj's topic in General Flooring
You would do your block and beam and slab as normal Treat the polished floor as a screed to be done when you are fully watertight just before first fix You will also need to budget to protect the floor with ply It doesn’t tend to workout much different in cost than a good quality tile -
Need for noggins in supporting wall?
nod replied to Omnibuswoman's topic in General Structural Issues
Plus 1 I do loads of these If the walls are lined one side or both with ply or OSB You don’t need noggings As Conor as already stated There sole purpose is to stop the studs twisting If you get the original builder back to inspect there work In sure he could find fault with there’s -
I borrowed a 5 tone excavator Which was fine for Drainage footings etc and loading packs of block If your going to be loading lorrys for muck away it would be a little bit slow move a three ton machine on loan Which would struggle with clay footings

As above Unless you can buy PV cheap and self install You are talking many years for the PV to pay for itself HPs are a good deal We are paying 5k towards a 11KW Hp etc fully installed Theres plenty on here cable of self installing But without the grant it probably wouldn’t be worth it
-
You will also need to allow a space between the house and scaffolding 1000 is very tight
-
I’ve used warm up on the last two Absolutely fine and FREE The all use the same software
-
Regardless of pitch or bowed area If the structural opening hasn’t change Its his problem 30 years or 30 minutes He has one job to do and he F****d it up Senior moment 😁
-
Warm up will do you a FREE design via one one there approved installers
-
You won’t need the extra barrier for your pre plaster inspection So it’s up to you if you add an extra barrier But your boarders will only take a matter of minutes to do each ceiling
-
I paid the gang I used £50 per day for mixing and carrying from day one I could have borrowed a tele handler from a friend With just the transport to and from to pay But I wouldn’t have trusted others to use it I’ve seen some bad accidents
-
You need to watch the lining for twisting Al’so I normally tack a diagonal string either corner and fix once they touch in the center
-
Absolutely not The last time I saw a brickie on a none private site driving a tele handler was Never Unlikely to see them using a dumper I would never hire one on a self build and hand the keys to a brickie or anyone else If there’s an accident It’s YOU who’s is responsible

Has anyone used tile.expert website to order tiles?
nod replied to leemkule's topic in Wall Tiles & Tiling
For a full wet room I would always use r11 But showers and bathrooms are fine with r10 -
The bricklayers I’m working with around the sites local to me Haven’t had a decent wage since mid December Probably not worth getting out of bed for the rest of the week Most of the sites are paying the Brickies a retainer just to keep them on site Stonework is far work I’d be inclined to pay them
-
If you have a substantial amount of stonework still to do They have got you by the balls If not Just tell them no I suspect most of the daywork is to cover time lost with bad weather
-
Yep we pick the boards up Put them against the wall and screw them up These things are absolute nonsense But we are having to use them on a couple of jobs
-
Health and safety has gone mad
-
I hope all that have any interest in HSE will make sure there dryliners use one of these Pictured perched on top of the obligatory Dewalt radio 😁
-
No its just a Juliet for the bedroom
-
I fitter the Juliet balcony yesterday afternoon We didn’t think glass would be in keeping with the rural setting So I asked a friend to make one up out of steel The only problem was the weight I had to borrow a digger to lift it up there As four of us couldn’t lift it in place
-
Most of the bricklayers that I know haven’t had a proper wage since before Christmas If it’s for doing the work at the moment They might be lucky to get a full days work in per week Everyone has to eat
