We have a wasps nest in our loft I can see them coming in and out of the the soffit I have three choices Send my wife up a ladder with a powder foam or smoke bomb on a fireproof surface through the loft hatch and get out for three hours The later sounds the safest Anyone any experience of wasps Those wasps didn't stand stand a chance

My wife hated our induction job for about 3 months Had we not of set it in a very large quarts Island We would have swapped the worktop and gone back to gas Six months on she loves it
-
I don’t think two weeks this time of year will do it much harm

It’s ok to leave it outside Nearly always left outside onsite

When you are ready Dont make the mistake of putting all your eggs in one basket You will need several accounts It’s unusual that one BM will have the best prices on all -
There are several reasons for putting the straps on the inside First being ease of fixing Far easier to be stood on a solid than on a scaffold or ladder Second is if you are fixing to block you are likely to put packers under the straps which would be a pain to try and render over and likely to crack

I’ve been vat registered In the building industry for over three decades It can be quite confusing with different or zero rates for similar types of buildings One thing is crystal clear If you are not vat registered You can not charge vat at any rate on Labour He will include vat in his quote for material But if he is not vat registered he will be unable to claim this back Hence him trying to recoup it from you The 20% CIS is nothing to do with you It is tax that he should deduct from subcontractors and pay in at the end of each month to HMRC Some of the smaller builders can’t be bothered with all the work being vat registered entails But that shouldn’t cost you

I would buy the plot and pull all that had been done out A mornings work for a man and a digger While it sounds drastic The foundations are the most crucial part of the build and what you suspect is true Tge land owner won’t have taken much care when he installed the slab Starting a fresh would allow you to have everything just right and prevent issues with floor buildup due to having to put insulation and screed o top of what is already there

We have in the past But with most site water coming in a cube and the nearest tap may be half a mile away We are stuck with SPR But as I say most are concrete blocks on apartments or duplex As I say pointing is much more effective Or wet plaster
-
My air test was three Nothing getting out around walls The tester remarked how airtight the building is Unfortunately planning dictated Over 30 sash windows that are not airtight Regarding Parge I use tons of the stuff each year mostly for sound blocking The bricklayers no this is being done so don’t bother pointing and bar jointing If you have to SC on thermal blocks you will need to seal them As the SC will dry to fast and leave a powdery finish to D&D onto
-
Concrete block Thermal are no good for Parge Sound coat helps between party walls Speaking as someone who uses a lot of it I would prefer that the BW Is properly pointed I would have cost me nothing to Parge our build but I didn’t bother The house is fully airtight without it

I feel very sorry for you There are problems listed above The main one being that he has built on top of your existing drive Even if the drive was solid You can’t build on it Even a porch needs a trench (footing) Dug in a U shape to support the brickwork The next step is for him or someone else to dig the drive up Dig a footing and fill the trench with concrete To give a solid foundation Good luck

As a tiling contractor I’ve never seen anyone use the levelling systems I suspect it would be expensive and slow on large areas I and the tilers that work for me use spacers I don’t allow growing the spacers in I was caught out on one job Take your time and keep checking
-
The tile levelling systems are ok for floors but not necessary for walls You need to set out from your window wall Try not to leave any nasty cuts I normally set out from the centre of the window Regardless off weather the window is central
