Absolutely no problem fitting any of your windows and doors All BC will be concerned with is that they are sealed correctly Your supplier will provide you with all the U value spec etc Which you can pass on to BC

I’ve use the heat proof skim on top of cement boards One lady didn’t want a smooth finish So I used a sponge float to finish it with The skim is black and drys dark grey

I paid the Brickie's an extra 50p a mtr to point and bar rub all block work and made it clear I had no intention of parge coating To cover up bad block work Or scratch coating prior to render Thankfully most of the sites also insist that BW is pointed Particularly with external areas Back in the day we would just put a thick scratch of sand and cement But with modern through coloured renders Most don’t require a scratch coat You can’t cover bad BW Its laziness Quick to clean off when wet Pain in the arse when rock hard I would tell your contractor that your not happy

If you choose to install a warm room there is no need to ventilate I chose to you the multi layer foil on top of the joist and 200 mil kingsman between the joists Covered with a 15 mil foil back PB I was restricted to how much build up I could have on top of the joists But there is nothing to stop you fixing kingsman in top of the joists

tanking screed - do I have to wait?
nod replied to TheMitchells's topic in Bathrooms, Ensuites & Wetrooms
Ideally you would let the screed dry out A day per mil It’s not always practical for a shower room I’ve screeded many shower rooms and covered the floor with boards the following day and got on with tiling the walls Then tanked and tiled the floor a couple of days later With no problems -
2200 is going to feel very low As JS pointed out 2300 is normally a minimum 2200 would limit you to downlighters
-
You can be pretty accurate with an estimate prior to starting But as pointed out above you will Need your plot Or certainly an engineers foundation drawing
-
It’s really nice of you to say that Declan Thank you A lot of Time was spent cutting and following the curves
-
I bought a Belle maxi splitter pretty good I’ll put it on eBay shortly I have a makita masonry saw for the smaller cuts
-
Ha ha Thanks Ian I’ve done most things over the years I trained as a plasterer many years ago and floor screeding tiling was all part of the job Once you have screeded a section You only need to place the blocks Down The trick is compacting everything as you go

We have just finished the drive 410 mtrs of paving 30 ton of sand My wife has pulled most of the paving on her little truck A monumental effort considering she is on 9 stone wet through

We had a letter today saying that they had all the info and documentation that they needed and our claim will be processed over the next six weeks Then refund will follow within 14 days It’s a bit of a relief after reading recent posts Let me explain We had Counsul tax people sniffing around before we even had pre plaster inspection After much argument they told us that in there estimation we could finish the build six weeks after pre plaster inspection and we could be ready for that in two We tried everything Showed them that the German kitchen we had chosen that couldn’t be measured till plastered Had a twelve week lead time Go to Howdens or B&Q Get an off the shelf kitchen We’d no services or toilet Water was coming from an outside tap next door In short we where miles off Eventually we where made an offer 50% for twelve months then full amount Even though we where still paying on our current home Take it or leave it and risk having to pay the bill for the full amount that we already have By the time we moved in we had paid 12 months at 50% amount 3 at full amount We where able to get BC to sign us off 5 months after moving in By this time we had paid 20 months Counsul tax and lived in the house for 5 months before sign off We wasn’t sure if this would be an issue We where absolutely honest in our submission But no mention of the timeline from HMRC

Your studs will be set out at 400 or 600 so if you measure out from an internal corner either distance and tap the wall you should find one The rest will be 400!or 600 apart If you are TF more likely 400

Roof Slates weird after Velux installation... ???
nod replied to Repsac's topic in Roofing, Tiling & Slating
Very poor They won’t last a winter The Velux flashing can cause the slates sit at a slight angle But you can usually get round this by sorting through the new slates for ones that sit nice It looks like little care has been taken The gutters around the velux should be even and clear I would be concerned about how much care they have taken fitting the flashings if they are going to leave the slates looking so messy You need to get them back and see what they have to say
