I have student accommodation to do each year Brick and TF Usually between 200 and 300 rooms Break ground in Mark Everything complete by August Excellent way of building
-
Quite few jobs I’ve worked on use TF and facing brick or a mixture of facing brick and rendered block Bit more solid than just timber

If you sell the new house or rent You won’t be able to claim the vat back and you pay tax on the sale However if you was to move into the new house sell your own house There would be nothing stopping you from selling the new house once all the utility’s are in your name and also claim the vat back on completion of the new property

solids on the outside Though I built three pikes up in aeriated and aeriated on the internal The reason being originally the sap called for a light weight thermal on the inside very expensive and a lot of waste Now they are week The aeriated had a higher had a higher thermal value than solid From memory about 20 p each more expensive
-
Nothing wrong with aeriated internal or external Millions are used each year in the U.K. Great to render to

Our neighbour who sold us the land hounded us to u red gently get his garage built before we started the build 3 years on he still hasn’t removed the temporary osb door I reckon it will still be in use in another three years

So are there tiles At least Dick Turpin wore a mask -
Always cuts against archs They are hardly ever level
-
No He’s correct Most new builds are done this way Sometimes when it’s hardwood we strike a 70 mil line and work to that It really doesn’t make much difference Either way works

I think so Hes a QS and totally sold on the idea of going green Like myself and my wife there is going to be just the two of them rattling around in a five bed 3 bath house Not very green We are due another visit I will try and member to take a few photos His first self build was in the 70s This one is a turn key
-
Plasterboard prices at wickes and finish is only slightly more than I pay for buying lorry loads in Thats for 12.5 TE 2.4 x 1.2 Where there’s a big difference is the moister fire check sound block insulated boards etc I pay about half what they are sold in the BM and sheds

This is my friends third self build Hes aid about 13 k The way he explained it to me it sounded like sale talk
-
We have a friend that mid way through his build He’s talking about the solar panels paying for themselves in two year and selling power back to the grid ? Is it environmental concerns or financial or a bit of both I just don’t get it
-
It just seemed observed that planners insisted we had sash widows and where quite specific about the type of slate we used Definitely no type of tiles No external aerial or satellite dish Then insist we put something so modern on the roof The integrated look for better than the type that are just perched on top of the tiles But neither of us like the look of solar panels Perhaps we would think differently if they where cost effective Our final Sap score was 89 I was amazed that with the whole back of the house covered in solar panels would only have taken the score up to 91
-
We didn’t want solar panels simply because we don’t like the look of them Even though our planing permission stated that we must include them Our sap stated an installation cost of £7500 and an annual saving of about £250 Unless you can buy and fit cheaply The figures don’t stack up Our daughter and her partner have looked at purchasing two houses with solar panels Both have come back with damming surveys They read like the roof was about to fall in in any minute Surveyors don’t like them
-
The higher the better normally but if you are looking for some ideas It may be worth a trip up to Stanley house on the outskirts of Preston I installed coffers in most of the rooms a few years back Grab a coffee and a cake and a look round Heights range between 2.5 and 2..3
-
Welcome Not far away from you at Preston
-
I think the only thing stop you could be cost That said I hope you do go ahead as it would be a really interesting project to see unfold As far as insulation I regularly use a external insulation- render system that would work well for you That would totally seal the building I will watch this thread with interest Good luck
