  1. Thanks BT said we need a provider and they arrange the line??
  2. Hi, does anyone know how we get a new landline into our new build home. I keep getting conflicting advice. We have demolished an existing house and replaced with a new dwelling. We rang BT, they said we have to contact our broadband provider, the provider said we need a landline into the property first, BT said that only Open Reach can do this, Open Reach said they don’t deal with the public, and there we are back to square one. Anyone help? Thanks
  3. Thanks I’ll check on Monday
  4. Hi, we have started building our house and realised that when the architect drew a drainpipe on the back of the house it was originally going to drain into a gutter sitting behind a Brise Soleil attached To the Back wall. We then decided to not put the Brise Soleil on until we lived in the house for a while to see wether we need it. On removing the Brise Soleil from the plan the architect ‘forgot’ to find a new place for the drainpipe that was to take rainwater off that section of the roof. Anyway we’ve been backwards and forwards with ideas of how to remove the drainpipe and relocate and came up with a plan to make the dormer wider and therefore the windows also. My question is, Do we need to go back to planning with this, these windows are on the back of the house And not facing any neighbours. Or can we go ahead with the change. picture 1 is the original plan, picture 2 the new plan. thanks 2019_1320_FUL-Proposed_rear-3120373.pdf A-621-R08sk04.pdf
  5. when we did the original holes, the weather was better than it is now and the holes did drain better obviously, we still have the holes and now they aren’t draining due to all the rain we’ve had. I think we have a solution for the waste septic water in a mound soakaway, but we still need a solution for surface water, I have just been reading about Rainactiv attenuation tanks and rainwater recycling, wondered if this was an option, but presumably we still need the surplus to run off somewhere?
  6. We did 3 separate holes they were all about a metre deep. we’ll be putting in a new treatment plant.
  7. Thanks for the advice very helpful
  8. We don’t have this Planning condition on our site, hopefully that will work in our favour.
  9. Hi, has anyone had any experience of getting highways to agree to you using the highway gully as a means to discharge surface water? We feel this now could be our only option, but I fear highways will not agree. We are rural and we have a gully in front of the house, we can put a storage attenuation tank in and a pump so as to mitigate any storm surge. Just wondered if anyone had any experience of doing the same. Or if you can think of any other way to discharge our roof water as we are in clay soil and the percolation tests have failed. May thanks
  10. Thanks for the advice, I will talk to our builder about this.
  11. Thanks for this, but does this still not need some kind of drainage field?
  12. Thanks, we did some percolation tests for in ground soakaways and they failed due to clay soil.
  13. Yes, waste water and rain water were previously going through a soakaway and then out under the vendors retained land to a pond.
  14. Hi all, here’s hoping someone can come up with a solution. We are in a very tricky situation, we bought a development plot With planning permission to demolish and rebuild however in the small print of the contract it states that the vendor will not allow us to continue to use the existing drain for waste water which runs under his retained land and exits in a pond on his retained land. This has now left us in a really crappy situation where we don’t know how to get rid of our waste water for the new build, we are not on mains drains, there are no other water courses for us to drain into and we have clay soil. We are now going down the solicitor route to see if we can get him to change his mind But in the meantime I wondered if there was an alternative solution. I had heard of above ground mound soakaways? thanks
