  1. We spent 90 of the 190k spent
  2. 2nd fix Its perhaps not worth falling out over a small amount of money As you might need him back for any teething problems
  3. I would always run the heating before tiling As a business I’ve tiled plenty Usually commercial that simply can’t be heated up before tiling I did a favor job for The MD of a company that gives us lots of work Bio boiler wasn’t commissioned S&C screed had been down two weeks 200m2 needed to be down and grouted in two days No time to F##k about with Ditra His words 1200 Porcelain slats Four years on still fine He just said if it has to come up after Christmas So be it But I have to be in for Christmas Make sure you Leave a 10 mil gap around the edge and plenty of expansion joints and you will be ok
  4. He is quite correct Hardly anyone would quote to screed if the house isn’t watertight
  5. Al Murad stock a lot of discontinued ranges
  6. I would be very concerned that this has happened after five years Usually screeding problem come to light within weeks of being laid How is the masonry and plaster Is there any cracking?
  7. There will be tape there Don’t go to deep that you rip the tape A good quality Flexible filler is fine If it does become a problem Get your plasterer to tape it on his way home Ten minutes Cup of year Then five minutes feathering it out and you can sand it the following day There should be hardly any need for sanding Itts unusual for a long bound edge joint to crack It would be worth putting a line of screws either side of the crack
  8. You need to make them deeper Press The crack in with a paint scraper forming a V Its also worth putting a few extra screws in along the effected joint Then fill Sand Fill again and sand If the crack reappears you will have to put another fibre tape on fill it twice with easy fill and feather the edges The first Usually works
  9. To have more than one company running together isn’t that unusual Your husbands gut feeling is right A new builder will want at least as much money upfront Perhaps more At the moment the risk has increased for the contractors also With many clients having cash flow problems also Now would be a good time to sit down with your builder and discuss a labour only deal Suppliers have become very twitchy My main framing supplier has cut my monthly limit from 100k to 50k for the foreseeable future Some jobs are having to be put off till the filling month So the client tells I’m not paying you this month till you are back onsite Lots of work in Cashflow isn’t great I run three companies for this very reason If I had just one company I would be in a position where I’ve got enough work in for 40 men and have to cut wages down to 20 men Im struggling to keep on top of the work we have now with 40 plus It’s like being a juggler While you don’t want your job propping up other jobs You need your job to progress You need to strike a balance If you choose to bring in another builder They will hit you with higher rates
  10. Algaecide
  11. I pumped air into the UFH as I was worried about the pipes freezing if I’d used water It held six bar of pressure for about six months
  12. Anytime ?
  13. I did this one last year on a.very wet basement When I laid the kingspan the water lifted it till the screed was laid In the past I have D&D onto the membrane when it’s been one or two walls bellow ground But this one was much worse than I had seen before with a stream running along one side of the building and standing water in th floor I used 50 I stud around the perimeter set 50 mil off the membrane I used Sikaflex to fix the track down Then the following day fixed deep track to the ceiling and put the studs in Then let the plumber and spark do there stuff Absolutely nothing touching the membrane Only fixed to the ceiling BC told me I needed to add insulation to the void I ignored him I then added pat-tresses to the frames and boarded with 50 insulated PB The customer had a moan about loosing 100 mill of space The previous guy had said 12 mil of moister board would have been fine Which was a bit annoying as I’d stepped in at the last minute to help a builder friend out I found out later that with all the framing and insulated PB I was still a couple of grand less than the no show SPECIALIST

  15. Welcome no dumb questions on here ?
  16. If it’s stepped you would have to use a backing coat then skim
  17. Exactly the same as any other surface The Gypbond leaves the surface like textured paint Then skins as normal
  18. Yes I have Quite a lot of hotels would have the underside of the concrete floor skimmed We would simply fill the joints with bonding and Paint gypbond on the whole ceiling and skim with two coats of multi finish the following day
  19. Counter batonning the ceiling will cure this
  20. Very true I could have got the lads that work for me to lay the 20 ton of screed plaster out lay 250 m2 of tiles and all the other things But for me it defeated the point of doing it The lads that work for me earn between 250-400 per day It would have knocked the budget sideways 770m2 would have doubled The next one if we can ever get going will be sub 1000m2 But at nearly 60 we won’t put as many hours in
  21. If he’s going over unmade ground It does sound expensive
  22. K Rend is a silicon render Most of the other manufacturers do a silicon render K rend is probably the most popular and along with Stucco K rend is the most consistent for colour match and backup
