We purchased our windows supply only So no idea what the fitting price would be However we ordered our bifolds from a separate company who also included a fitting price Which was £1700 For something that took myself and my trusty helper 3 hours to fit You could always go the supply route and pay your joiner a couple of hundred per day and get a far better job than what the window fitters would do

My wife’s job is in a freezing operation theater al day so won’t have the heating more than 19 and goes round opening windows Hence the MVRH She also thinks I’ve gone overboard on the insulation But I’m convinced that making the house airtight and well insulated is far more important than the way we choose to heat our homes Our previous home was built in the 90 s Just over half the size but cost more than double to heat PS we have a wood burner but due to contracting COVID back in January and still suffering the effects we haven’t used it for 12 months
-
At the end of the day it matters only what you are paying in £ per annum We will look at MVRH on the next one I still don’t see how PV could pay for itself Certainly with low energy bills to start with Our Sap predicted an annual saving of £250 Do The math
-
Not sure of the units But I’m reliably informed that we are averaging £35 per month gas and electric 284m2 Traditional built no PV or MVRH
-
We had the same issues at previous homes Particularly in bathrooms Rust along the bottom At least with stainless we won’t have that Though we have addressed the condensation problems of previous homes Better ventilation Much better extraction Insulated plasterboard throughout the house

I’ve been helping a friend extend his house I advised him to do the same and it looks really professional Its so easy to drift with floor tiles Laying a row down the middle gives you a real solid base to kneel on But more importantly two parallel straight edges
-
If your not looking to tile in one hit A row of tiles down the centre will look better and make it easy to work middle to either edge once set Unfortunately you will have to wast the middles of the upstands as they won’t have a glazed edge

Choosing a Warranty & Technical Requirements
nod replied to LondonMum's topic in New House & Structural Warranties
As above Necessary evil Unlikely to ever pay out Like others on here ours spent less than 30 minutes at the build and less than ten minutes on the final inspection The banks and building societies all have a list of warranty providers that they recognize Unfortunately The big two two Buildzone and Protect are pretty much recognized by all and are the most expensive A friend of ours decided to sell his forever home 12 months after he finished his build and paid an extra £500 for a retrospective warranty -
Interesting cost information for persimmon builds
nod replied to Moonshine's topic in Costing & Estimating
Most of the builders quote Sell two Third one profit While the big players get the land at a fraction of what we do There overheads are high Most on here should beat the above profits if they choose to sell -
Exactly We partition hundreds of student pods of six and only use 25 mil acoustic roll Packing them full of insulation achieves the opposite 50 mil slabs are good but should ideally not touch either side of the PB (Air Gap)

Bathroom to bedroom Toilet to living space The rest is choice
