We’ve found our UFH very cheap to run (Gas boiler ) My wife is dreading moving to an ASHP on the next one I’d never go back to radiators
-
We’ve been warned to expect 30% higher running costs than our gas boiler and by the guys that sell them The problem with HPs is they are often sold as a cheap way of heating your home Most people that are swapping over retrospectively have no idea that there bills will be higher
-
You’ve two options Live with it Or pay to have it re routed The later would be expensive But save you going around in circles for months A friend of ours has been going through this for over two years in order to sell his building plot Three dropped out buyers later and 500 quid to a planning consultant Hes admitted defeat and is paying for the pole to be moved 8 weeks time it will just be a bad memory

Hopefully this arrangement isn’t for a full build and only short term Any recipe they give can be claimed back if eligible Jus get them to add your name or the address BMs always ask The problem with trades buying the materials is They won’t shop around Just use where ever is the most convenient -

We normally use flex tile adhesive 10 mil notch on the block 10 mil notch on the Cement board Don’t forget to seal your board with SBR the day before Some Architect's spec four BG knock ins per m2 the following day Bit over the top really -
Plasterboarding over new insulation with sloping roof
nod replied to HandyAndy's topic in Plastering & Rendering
Do as you are doing and buy some skim stop beads Your plaster will fix them to the slope and skim a straight line down to them Ceiling first Then the slopes on a separate gauge -

Current building regs for a cavity wall.
nod replied to Russell griffiths's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
75 mil is pretty normal Insulated pb is unusual Weve recently plastered a self build that had specified 100 mil Celotex in a 125 cavity which wasn’t practical to build So he went 75 mil batts in a 125 cavity man’s insulated pb on the inside of the house Expensive mistake on the Architects part -
Patio to wall junction - help please on building regs
nod replied to Hilldes's topic in Building Regulations
If you haven’t started a get a new warranty provider Some ask ridiculous questions and set unreasonable conditions The level threshold is an easy one Where there is a level threshold you simply step the dpc up the wall at either side -
No it won’t You can easily get a wheelchair over They say 15 mil But there not looking to catch you out
