  1. If you re about to develop the land Re building a retaining wall in the grand scheme of things isn’t a major job and stop this rumbling on throughout the build It would be a long and expensive process to force your neighbor to rebuild it Which leaves you with two options
  2. A laser with a laser receiver is quick and accurate
  3. If cost is a consideration lime plaster isn’t for you I buy and use a lot of lime plaster Clay works at £60 plus vat per bag soon Racks up
  4. Depending on how much of the value of the land you will borrow They will probably want detailed costing For a fee you can get these online
  5. I heard this also Petrol prices still dropping £1.41 Locally
  6. If they are large format 12 mil will be minimum Putting latex down is a waste of time and money
  7. No you don’t need to level out Large format tile require a thick bed 5 milis nothing
  8. No need for slab ISO roll is fine
  9. Loft windows and doors will make a massive difference
  10. We mainly use 25 mil acoustic in party walls and ceilings There’s a misconception that packing it full of rockwool is better The insulation is there to stop the sound bouncing round the void
  11. Probably not the answer you want to hear They will have to come up Sounds like the matting has delaminated Cement board is very dry I would have stuck the Dura directly to to the floor
  12. It’s not surprising Twelves months ago some block and beam and other suppliers where doing the same It won’t last
  13. I run a render company and use most types and brands of render I used K scraped on our build and plan to use K Roughcast on our current build Both breathable Expect to pay £50-60 m2 Dont use a local plasterer that does a bit of rendering 50-60 will get you an established company that will have lots of finished and ongoing jobs you can go and see
  14. I’m curious Why dryvit ? You will have to be careful for damage as it’s easily marked Looks virtually the same as Stucco But more expensive
  15. I see block and beam on sites everyday and can never understand why they roll out a 100 mil dpc Covering the ends just looks right
  16. I’ve just this and on our previous build I used 600 dpc Turned it up and laid the first corse of block on it I wouldn’t worry about the grouting the Brickies will do it for fee 😁
  17. You can register for vat with 0 turnover from day one Many years ago I was forced to go vat registered because went over the vat threshold of 27k Think it’s about 80k now If they are quite new They perhaps haven’t added a vat number to there estimate sheets But they will need to give you a vat invoice when billing Some companies simply won’t zero rate and you have to claim it back at the end
  18. They are probably both right Soakers will probably be fine But a manufacturer will always go belt and braces We have had to drop the pitch on two low level 30 degree roofs Down to 27 The slate suppliers have recommended dropping the size of the slate to compensate
  19. 240 on site is stupid advise Relying on RCD whilst mowing your lawn is ok You wonder why 100 % of commercial and housing sites banned 240 v years ago Some won’t even have generators or leads on site now Batterie only
  20. I think I said that back in November
  21. I’ve not read the answers But first I would say a Ltd company is a terrible idea I can’t see any benefits in doing do Ive run a Ltd company for over 30 years and on our previous build and this The first job was to open parallel accounts With the nine accounts I already have To distance myself from being classed as a building contractor and the inevitable corporation tax that will follow I wouldn’t even get vat registered All site trades will have batteries or 110 I can’t remember seeing 240 onsite for over 20 years
  22. Very strange here I went to bed at midnight and it was very frosty Got u at 5am this morning to heavy rain
  23. It’s not great One minute a clear sky Next minute storms Really frustrating The sites have being paying Brickies wet time just to try and get them on site There’s about 30 Brickies out laying where I am Storms forecast for lunchtime 60 mile round trip for two hours work Sites will keep topping up wages while things are busy
