We were quoted 40-60 m2 Lancashire My wife and myself have just finished ours 320m2 50 meters of valleys It seemed the way they quoted would be the workshop and two straightforward sides would be 40m2 and the valleys 60m2

It’s unlikely that any SW will ever pay out We used Protec for our first build Each visit lasted about 10 minutes Even the final inspection Where he didn’t walk around the outside of the house Still only took ten minutes We new we would sell This time we have no intention of selling But there’s no such think of a forever home Find something that suits you and your budget You can also get one retrospectively at about double the cost -

Do extension foundations need to go to house foundation?
nod replied to m13eys's topic in House Extensions & Conservatories
As a rule BC will normally want the foundations at least the depth of the house I currently building an extension Ground conditions are fine But the house was built four years ago using piles Hes insisting on piles for the extension Without understanding why the house was piled -

Plus 1 Lighting is an issue when fully vaulted We have three vaulted ceilings and I’ll add a 600 mil wide flat to the top -
Yes Excellent service after five year and replace a 1k with a 2k tap It was what he had in his van
-
Have you tried Basetec out at Adlington They won’t be the cheapest But have a good set up
-
We had an issue with our Quooker Tap The lever had become disconnected Not hot or cold just boiling Quooker service came out today and said the tap was beyond repair and the boiling tank was getting to hot also He said whilst we are four years out of warranty It could be considered as a manufacture issue and replace the whole lot within the £150 call out Definitely be buying another for our current build

Heat pumps won’t work in old homes, warns Bosch
nod replied to Temp's topic in Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
It doesn’t work like that They have absolutely nothing to do with sizing selling etc They simply tender for the contract -
Yes most of the major house builders use Veka Probably half the price of Rational and others More contract than specialist

So true We had a refurb job in Liverpool Every house fitted with a Mitsubishi HP Everything supplied and fitted for free Every day there was people Heras sing the plumbers complaining that there bills had gone up and there rads weren’t heating up The heating company that had retrained half there staff (3 day course) Had already stated that there would be issues Yet the government still pours our money into these schemes Im not saying that all of us should get a HP for free While it would be nice The cost should be similar to fitting a gas boiler PV is just as bad with outrageous claims of slashing bills Then saddling home owners with long term debt The ambulance chasers will move from PV to HPs next -
It may put off the smaller contractors But most established companies will expect to draw up a contract with detailed costings and timeframe Any builder that has a problem with this wouldn’t be worth employing

When asked how much we had spent on our previous build I could answer within a few hundred quid on any given day Tonight we’ve gone through the spreadsheets and any outstanding invoices We’ve don’t 155k A good chunk going on the workshop so I’ve counted this in Attic trusses etc we are pretty much watertight now that my wife and myself have finished building and slating the roofs Four months around our day jobs We originally set out to come in a couple of hundred more per m2 than last time at around a 1000m2 Now that the unknowns are out of the way and prices stabilizing or going doing as some things have and are We should be around what we though So self building still seems worth the effort Just about 😁
