  1. Pete

    Hi!

+1 to that statement. Will look lovely when finished
  2. Just bought mine!!
  3. will you have to build steps to get in the shower!!
  4. You are a true self-builder noticing all the little things that you think can be/should have been done differently. All I can say is "a blind man on a galloping horse ", when you get further on in the build this roof will be way down on the things you wish you had done differently and you will have numerous other things you wished you had done better/differently. Ask any SB on here!! The roof looks fantastic and everybody who comes to look at it will think so, crack on and try not to be so hard on yourself as that is another self building trait.
  5. Ever since we have put the windows in our house we have had numerous bird deaths. This is because of the large amount of glass we have, in one area we have a 12.5 metre run. We must be up to about 20 deaths so far with 4 last week. The problem is the reflection of the hedges opposite onto the glass and so this misleads the birds, I think? We have a roof terrace window which is also quite bad at fooling the birds, at present the birds are feeding on the large Yew tree berries and then drop down from the tree and can see the fields beyond but cannot see the large pain of glass in the way. we are going to put a large planter in front of this window with tall grasses to try and mitigate the little tweetie deaths but not sure what we can do about do about the large glass run? On a more numerous note we once had a bird death many year ago at a previous house in similar circumstances and when our 5 year old daughter (she is 27 now) saw it dead on the floor she just said it should have looked were it was going!!
  6. Will try him again. Thanks
  7. Git a quote from Trevor for a 400l indirect cylinder with twin immersion for £1300 which is a tad more than £800. Trevor said it comes with expansion vessel etc so I assume this is a pre plumbed cylinder?
  8. No sorry, I have just checked and we had a block plinth to attach to. Really sorry I sent you the wrong info, got to many things going on in my head at the mo. Once again I do apologise.
  9. I have never been good at those spot the difference drawings!
  10. Just checking on this second drawing and your ref to buffer with coils etc as it still seems the same to my untrained eye!!TIA
  11. You must leave room above so if you need to tighten screws you can do. I had to this on my build. The screws through the head of the window/sliders are there to prevent lateral movement afaik so you can always tighten them to counteract the deflection
  12. My windows sit within the timber frame but I have some settlement which reduced the gap between the frame and the window. The gap between the sliding section of our doors and the frame is about 10mm (ish) so not much room for deflection. The exterior of our frame is battened with render board and thin coat Render.
  13. Moving forward now I am ready to start making decisions on what type of ASHP/tank and associated valves etc for my installation. You mentioned 9kw ASHP and a 400l cylinder so were is the best place to get these? I will also need buffer tanks so again what size/type do I need please? Hope this is an easy ask, if not then just direct me as to who ask please? TIA
  14. I agree totally. Internirm said we needed at least 20mm gap filled with expanding foam tape so when/if the frame settles then there will be no pressure on the window/sliding. As it turned out we needed the 20mm or we would have been in a right pickle
  15. Just dug my UFH box out and I think I may have a mixing/blending valve after all? The temp range on it is 30 to 70, will this be ok for my PH build? TIA
  16. With regards to the buffer tank and preventing short cycling, my UFH pipes are 5 zones but no zone valves so really one large zone. The house is mainly all ground floor so there is a large amount of water already in the pipes (house area 8m x 25m for the pipe area on 200mm centres, PH) so I would think I would be ok to omit the buffer tank as others have stated they have not fitted a buffer tank and their system works ok? TIA
  17. Thank you. The colour is 80077 on the Pirnar spec sheet. The render is Parex, thin coat system. Go back to the planners and see if they will compromise. Have photos of finished projects that you think will compliment your build, worth a phone call or email surely?
  18. The stone to the left is Norstone graphite lava and the wood effect is Trespa romantic walnut
  19. No, I fitted them myself
  20. I just used the ubiflex adhesive to fix it. Really easy to do, applied a couple of horizontal beads and fixed the Ubiflex. I used some rollers to try and get good adhesion. I will add you can sometimes see a small amount of RIP g but it is very slight and on the overall look of the house looks fine. The Ubiflex is very easy to bend around corners. I butt joined it and will cover with a black Silkaflex. I bought the 900mm wide roll and cut it to size, saved a few pennies!!
  21. Our front and back door from Pirnar which we are really pleased with
  22. We used Ubiflex which is fixed using their adhesive and looks really smart
  23. You take as many baby steps as you need, I am right behind you!
  24. Many thanks for this info. Are you going onto the wiring as well? I know @PeterWmentioned a W plan but cannot find much info about it? TIA
