  1. I am wondering if it is OK to plaster over an easyfill filled drywall?
  2. Welcome to THE forum for people like us. Ask away.
  3. Neat idea, must remember that when we install ours.
  4. Looks very good, assuming 25p day rate and 17p night rate your energy cost you: £599 which is £50 PCM all bar the shouting - bloody good.
  5. Sorry. What I meant was that the smooth continuous operation gets interrupted by the demand for DHW so that needs to be factored in - does higher temperature operation, or changes to from, impact noise levels.
  6. How does this relate to the need once / twice a day to run up the DHW temp if PV / Solar not available?
  7. Only by having camera's in places you shouldn't - I dimly recall your being knocked back across a rubicund you were thinking to cross in this regard.
  8. Yes 96 + outlets does seem a lot for a house.

  11. The house has MVHR so it looks like the overall outer envelope is what the calc should based upon that not individual spaces I would have thought. The whole place at a common temperature is the goal really although I suppose many would want the bedrooms cooler than the living area so that might be a problem. Life is full of compromises.
  12. Welcome to the forum.
  13. This is actually an MCS allowed scheme as far as I can see. https://mcscertified.com/umbrella-schemes/
  14. Eeeek scream. Your house looks like it has been built to, or close to, Passive house standard so something odd is going on somewhere, I don't get why the double height space needs special attention and MVHR must have an impact as it recovers 80%+ of the heat normally lost in air changes.
  15. Great it is sorted but you dodged a fire there, wonder what caused the 100A isolator to burn out, is it switched on/off under load regularly?
  16. I find push down simple enough, you can label it up simply and from the front it looks much tidier with short patch leads.
  17. Although that sounds odd, many think fibre should be faster unless you are on a low data rate tariff. Actually the theoretical Max data rate on 4G is 1Gbs for stationary users while domestic fibre can easily make well over 1Gbs, max in UK is 10Gbs, but the theoretical top is 5G which can max out at 20Gbs - in theory. The issue with them all is the infrastructure and number of users concentrated on your pathway. If you live near a motorway with a big jam suddenly you have a vast number of people using the 4/5G network and in the end that all hits the fibre backbone anyway. Oh and yes you will definitely want power to your data cabinet.
  18. Router > switch > patch panel which connects to the sockets around the place. The switch may need to supply power to the sockets it's called POE (Power Over Ethernet), EG for camera's, wifi access points. This means you buy a switch with a number of POE outlets and the rest normal. If you want to use the CAT6 for anything special - EG HDMI over CAT6 then you will need some additional tech.
  19. Its a long walk everywhere upstairs and you have to go to bed via the wardrobe, the study bedroom appears to have the desk chair on the bed and there are several places where doors clash.
  20. We used Resorcinol PRF Resin Adhesive for our work, its a two part so needs carefully mixing. https://woodadhesives.akzonobel.com/en/adhesive-technologies/phenol-resorcinol-formaldehyde
  21. Yes we should build fast reliable railways with cheap fares so we don't need to drive places.
  22. Yes, sadly, or perhaps not, none of the chaps who took part in the Hatton Garden job seem to be members. Image from the FT.
  23. To get the right answer you will need a number of them so the interactions can be accounted for.
  24. I think I read of an unwillingness of structural engineers to try to calculate this, as so much depends on the quality of the glue You are right. We had the same plan as you - our portals would have been 9m wide and 5m tall. Our SE worked it out and showed it could not be done as a site build and probably only just marginal for a factory build. Our gussets are 15mm thick, we have a ridge beam supporting the top and has four gluelams / kerto beams across the space to stop it spreading. We built it on site with structural glue and process to SE spec but a portal it isn't. I think @Gone West did manage an I beam portal frame built in a factory IIRC.
  25. Looks to me like you need a structural engineer to look at this as I have an odd feeling those gusset plates, screws and structural glue and all, won't be up to the job you are expecting of them.
