  1. Now that did cross my mind. It started with no foundations then too much foundation.
  2. yes the GT12. Those concrete blocks are heavy and then you need to add lots of insulation before screeding. I’ve used them on a few sites now and they are a doddle. Oh and you can get your UFH and floor screed in early and carry on with the build.
  3. check out litecast. Thats what I will be using. I'm not sure if they deliver to where you are.
  4. If it is any help I allow £6.64 per m2 for faced brickwork mortar ( natural) and £2.49 for 100 mm blockwork per m2.
  5. I was building an extension for a great customer once and the neighbour flatly refused to allow me on to his property to point the faced brickwork that was facing his house. I tried and tried to explain that it would be better for him to allow me access but he was having none of it. I had no choice but to leave gravity defying snots hanging off the brickwork. the next day the ‘cowboy builders’ were exposed on social media. He’s. Still got the snots though. 😀 just saying. I’ll now join buttercup and grab my coat.
  6. That’s right it’s very concentrated. I’ve tried dozens of other makes but found this to be the best. Others claim to be as good but it’s not.
  7. You can also buy dry silo mortar in bulk bags from some suppliers. Just add water. It’s not cheap and has to be very well covered as the slightest bit of water ingress will ruin it.
  8. I'm hearing the same about thermalites. The new regs are going to cause stock issues again I fear.
  9. I've never noticed any colour change with Optimix and it is by far the best. Try Fastbuild supplies for a good price. I buy it by the box full. No other plasticiser that I have used performs any where near as well. Buckets and lots of them. Easier to load into the mixer I would get 5 buckets for the sand and one for the cement. load the buckets on a 8 x 4 sheet and scrape them off level with the shovel. Anal not if they fill five at a time. It doesn't' take much longer than shovelling in to the mixer You're welcome
  10. I seem to remember years ago filling these in with snapped headers and lots of mortar.
  11. I will be using easy bathrooms for mine they offer good discounts to trade customers and have a wide range. I’ve seen a lot of the goods in the showroom and I’m heading to the store tomorrow to collect some ex display goods with my plumber mate for his house. Discounted from about £4.5 k to just under £1 k.
  12. I would use some paving slurry when you bed the slates back on.
  13. Hi all, Last year it took me several months to get a quote from my DNO who I was told was the only organisation that I could use to provide electric and gas connections to my site. The quotes eventually came back for single phase and when I questioned them (after another couple of months delay) they sent back quotes for 3 phase but including aa temporary supply that I don't want. When I attempted to strip this down to what I did want and waited another month or so they came back with a reasonable quote but I was held up with bats and planning so couldn't proceed. Now I'm ready so I have asked them to re quote but now they can't find my previous quotes so I have sent them over to them. However, now they are saying that I can approach an Independent Connection Provider and have sent a list of 370 ICP's who would have the unfortunate task of having to deal with my DNO. My question is what am I looking for in a ICP and does anyone have any recommendations ?
  14. I'm gutted to read these posts. I really feel for you. You can't trust anyone these days. There doesn't seem to be much that you can do to protect yourselves either.
  15. I just passed it on but I looked and it seems to refer to hydrohalic acid and hydrocloric acid
  16. Ok I meant to post this the other day but forgot. It comes from a professional brick cleaning company and they swear it works if carried out correctly.
  17. Efflorescence. And that’s very mild. I’ve seen some shockers in my life.
  18. Why ? because they haven’t put any foundations in to an area that is separate to the building that is in the process of having a new opening formed ?
  19. Did they tell you it’s their property not yours and everything was being done safely and legally ? Was that the point where the conversation ended ?
  20. Sei Ruhig ! You are in pain and want to inflict your pain on the poor officer. He probably deserves it but my question is ….. is he LABC or private ? Get well soon.
  21. is it a semi detached house or a terrace ?
  22. are you out of the ground yet ? 😉
  23. I'm interested to hear the reason for this. Only because I much prefer the look of GRP but what are the downsides ? I have had similar quotes for EDPM and GRP and was going to go with GRP for the looks.
  24. I’m bracing myself. Then I thought that it would be a good place to place a time lapse camera. I feel a new post coming. ( pardon the pun)
  25. Another job done
