  1. That rings a bell from what I read, someone saying they put the gas can in their tea lol I could have sworn people recommended other makes though
  2. I've seen people mention they had issues with certain nails and gas for their nail guns and just wondered what people would recommend for my nail gun. Obviously the cheaper the better but without the issues of nails not firing Am I right in saying the issues with gas are in winter? Otherwise are they all the same? Cheers Vijay
  3. @nod knock ins?
  4. Any reason I couldn't dot and dab a backer board? It would sure be easier than trying to batten out an extremely uneven wall?
  5. Good point, it would probably be the thing they'd grab. I intend to add supports for any grab rails in the future. Stupidly they don't want any rails now or even a seat. I will probably insist on at least 2 grab rail and will add the supports for a seat so it will be easy to install if they decide they want one
  6. That kinda goes with what I've seen and would be great if the valve I choose for them is nearer the 72mm the shower area is 1800 x 850 and I was planning on having the controls in the middle, so they can be accessed from the 600 entrance and also within the shower both easily. Definitely not gonna channel anything major into the wall, I only asked in case I needed to nick anything for the valve - and that would me small, maybe 25mm max
  7. I looked at a few and they seem to be around 75-95mm (back of valve to back of wall plate). I'm struggling to find a suitable shower valve at the moment which is why I need to get on with stuff around it
  8. My next job is to look at the shower wall which will include a concealed shower valve and pipework run in it. It's a solid 9" party wall which I've put a thin bonding coat onto. I haven't chosen the valve yet but I'm assuming I really need to batten out the wall which I'm thinking of 50mm with a 10mm board over it. Does that sound right? How much could I realistically chase out of the wall if I needed to? Cheers Vijay
  9. yep and I can conform it works an absolute treat https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/164871764917?hash=item26631f7bb5:g:rQ8AAOSw075gozpW
  10. lol I'm T total (although I don't know how lol)
  11. I didn't even notice the waste pipe lol
  12. Imagine it would be ok if you use a fine sandpaper and a sanding block
  13. Did you get a chance to measure what's been removed/left?
  14. Is it a 4" wall or 9" party wall? (if that would make any difference to what can be chased out) I just can't imagine a builder would do that to a 4" wall and be ok with it
  15. are they planning to fill in the hole around the pipes?
  16. Cheers Faz. Always happy to pay a bit extra if the quality is there - especially when they are sunk into a wall. Will be normal basin taps, thankfully my Mum doesn't like the wall outlet taps. Anyone else had any experience of Vado shower valves?
  17. Visited a few places and came across these https://www.vado.com/notion-2-outlet-2-handle-thermostatic-valve which might be easy to use? Was told they are a very good make (like they'd say anything else) but has anyone installed or come across Vado shower valves? If anyone has any install pics of their shower valves/pipework, I'd really appreciate seeing them
  18. hiring one of these? https://www.thehireman.co.uk/arbortech-brick-and-mortar-saw-110v.html Or use and angle grinder for the vertical cuts, then as TonyT says, hammer and bolster to remove it (or SDS it out after doing the vertical cuts)
  19. so why not do what you can with what money you have, but leave rooms you don't need to do when you can. That's my plan but I'm winging it lol Concentrate money on getting the building envelope (build/windows/insulation/floors) to the spec you want
  20. In London that have cameras on the lorries to stop that
  21. To be honest I don't know how much flex there is in it, but I would say that there is probably enough to straighten the edges out. I did wonder with enough straight edges if I'd be able to keep it flat when it's bonding down, it's the unknown and also a very expensive mistake if it goes wrong at £532. I also thought as long as nothing sticks upwards, then I could correct and falls with the tiles and adhesive............................
  22. Any more thoughts on this as I'm getting desperate lol Supplier is being pretty crap, either fit it or get a refund
  23. I was under the impression Abacus was a reputable know brand Took me ages to get a sample of the Mira non slip, but I found it wasn't as good as some slip resistance tiles (which surprised me). My Mum wants a walk in tiled floor, so really want a former.................
