  1. If you check part K of the building regs (England), you only require a 16mm overlap for open riser stairs (page 6, 1.9). We have no overlap but we have concrete cast stairs
  2. It is you MCS accredited installer who registers the system, this is key to getting the full FIT. Once registered, you then apply for the money from your supplier, I am in the process of doing that at the moment, but waiting for proof that I purchased the system (complicated as was done by my contractor under a JCT so I will wait and see). I still only have an interim EPC as no final completion yet to get the final EPC!
  3. Somewhere on one of the forms/websites it covers integrated blinds and that you can claim for them, we are the same, Internorm windows with build in blinds, supply and fitted so no vat paid anyway!
  4. My kitchen company (supply & Fit) supplied my extractors (recirculation units) VAT free without any second thoughts so the vent side should be covered, as @JSHarris says phone and try they can only say no and you are no worse off, other than waiting on the phone for probably close to an hour!
  5. I only know as I am currently completing my claim. Have just received some new invoices that state Invoice, not pro-forma or order. Just waiting the final completion certificate and I am good to go!
  6. You can claim VAT on a build in vacuum cleaner, page 14 of the claim form VAT431NB: Goods (building materials) you can claim for dust extractors and filters (including build-in vacuum cleaners) That is how most are sold due to the fact that they are VAT deductible, despite the fact you could buy several top of the range Dysons for the price! Also if you have the vacuum unit in the recommended location (garage) as it is loud you have introduced a massive air and heat conduit into (out of) your house!
  7. Have you thermally modelled the house to work out your requirement?
  8. We got the new Dyson V10 and it works fine, the brushead is motorised and we only use it on the lowest setting and it works fine (last an hour). However we have hard floors throughout with rugs, so it is fairly easy cleaning.
  9. I am not there at the moment, will be a few weeks before we are back!
  10. Our bathroom has 2 x howdens base units with a custom Corian top (double sinks)
  11. Initial thoughts: Have you increased the Ground floor ceiling (as mentioned by @AliG)? We went for 2750mm + we have a 100mm suspended ceiling (service void) above that. Have you considered opening up the dining area into a large open plan main living area, with it closed off and a table in the kitchen area, chances are it will never get used, but if one large space then it become the main dining area, you lose the smaller table and gain space (more for the kitchen). Plant room, whatever you plan it won't be big enough! DHW storage, Boiler/ASHP, MVHR, Consumer Unit, Node Zero (Data/AV distribution) it all adds up and contractors never put it exactly where you planned eating into other space. Large window behind cinema screen will cause problems when you need to blackout the room for use! Storage for everyday things, Vacuum cleaner, Ironing board,..... Then the coats, hats, gloves, shoes/boots, not much space in the entry hall cupboard. What will the store between the garage-carport be used for? Garden type equipment, if so where does the general household storage go, the boxes of stuff you have but don't use? We have a massive attic and it is amazing how much has already made it's way up there and out house is over 400m2! If you can plan bedrooms for Superkings do so, even if not installed otherwise you are limited and a bed with a standard (Queen 4'6") and just space around it is cramped! If bed 4 (top left I think) is just for guests I would loose the en-suite, visitors use the main bathroom, and gain mose space. Plant room (again) ideally, it wants to be close to the main DHW users (Kitchen, Bath, en-suites), best place would be where the WC is (complete re-arrange).
  12. I have had an update from Andrew about the PCM34 cells I have, they have temporally suspended production due to an issue with a different cell (PCM88) that is still in development and as a caution halted the PCM34 cells until that issue is understood. The details are in the attached. SunAmp PCM34 letter.pdf
  13. If the pole is on your land then there should be a way-leave for it, but if it is just in front then probably not. If you do have a way-leave you have leverage over the DNO and can give them 12 months notice to remove the pole (then negotiate)!
  14. That is probably a more realistic value, The losses are more likely to be restrictions due to pipework etc.
  15. No idea, best method is trial and error. We set our Fridge temp to 3oC and that seems to work best, nothing is frozen (sub zero) and we get the best longevity. That is what we do with meals, good boxes are your friend (don't go through loads of plastic bags that way). Put it in the fridge the night before and a portion sized box will be defrosted by tea time, whilst passing on it's cold saving to the fridge (whilst defrosting).
  16. Yes our fridge has BioFresh draws, they do work, fresh fruit/veg just lasts longer that you will eb used to.
  17. 27.1 CFM = 46m3/h = 12.7 l/s, more than twice the required WC extract rate for Building Regs!! In my design I planned on just over 6l/s for the WC room plus just under 6l/s split between two cisterns. I ended up with 3 - 3.5 l/s per pair of cisterns and that is fine, no complaints of lingering smells. This gives 11.8 - 13.7% of your potential flow, however you will need to take in account pressure losses! I measures the cistern flow pipe before the toilet seat was mounted, wouldn't know how to do it now that are fitted!
  18. @Ferdinand In our original one the very top thin shelf had a couple of studs that stick up to locate the cold accumulators. The new one doesn't have the studs but a thin shelf (next to useless) so we just put them in there. Not sure how effective they would be in the fridge (also a Liebherr) as they were supplied for a freezer and their freeze/melt point may not be appropriate.
  19. Way over the top 10-15% of that would be fine.
  20. Our Last Liebherr Freezer had them (we move every 2-3 years and it has a detrimental effect on refrigeration) it lasted about 12 years, we just put them in the new one as it had the space but not supplied.
  21. @oranjeboom If you go Buffer-UVC, how are you heating the buffer? If it is all Gas then a TS makes more sense. The Buffer would be more applicable to an ASHP install. I am sure @Nickfromwales will come back when he can.
  22. @jack, are you 3-phase (G-83) or single and G59 rules? (purely out of interest) Because I am 3-phase we stayed below the G-83 limits. Also allowed a 3-phase ASHP (soft start), 3-phase lift and 3-phase, 22kW car charge connection (future expansion).
  23. Yes it is as they are enphase micro-inverters the service is provided, you can see all the enphase systems around the world, unless a user has specifically not published the data, I have the limited data available, link in original post.
  24. The arrays are the maximum that could be fitted on the roof, it is a space limitation. I was considering putting some on the NE roof, but this is a highly sub-optimal direction, it would give me more morning power (in teh summer) and with the low roof pitch 25o would get some sun however the numbers don't stack up; with Nov - Jan next to useless, Feb, Mar, Sep and Oct some power and Apr - Aug good but the rest of the array is also good then, so I have what I have. It still is quite a significant amount as shown by last weeks production and it is smoothed out by the split orientation. In theory it is over 10kW, but appears to top out at around 8kW but I get earlier and later power that a South facing array would.
  25. I am sure I will get bored with this but at the moment is is fun to see what I am generating, last week 269.5 kWh That is recorded by online, actually it is probably more as on Saturday there is an evident dropout of some of the panels reporting, on an otherwise clear day!
