  1. Half way platform is permanent but easy enought to knock up anyway. Few hours to make - an ideal evening job. These have been in service for 3 years and all ok. Make sure the gaps are even all the way. GFI
  2. It needs to look right - if that means its not plumb then so be it. How many take a spirit level when visiting a bathroom?
  3. to give the lad credit - it always makes progress - its just that its not always that fast
  4. I just bought some 6x2 - cut them to length. Screwed some timber pieces on them in parallel to the floor and then screwed some 6x1.5 on as treads. No risers. All screwed into our timber frame. Nothing fancy at all but they are solid and easy to move up and down. Not that proud of them that I took any pics! - hang ed found one:
  5. It looks like an expensive one to build to me - lots of 'interesting' angles and change in elevations etc Bet that chews through £400K fairly quickly.
  6. Ours is timber frame - supply and erect. You are then at leisure to go and correct all the things you didn't notice because it went up so fast. Next one will be brick & block or stick built. I'm told that stick build is a chunk cheaper.
  7. I'm going to fit ours towards the very end. Not going to risk it getting trashed. We've got a home made temp one at the minute.
  8. Hi @ProDave, I did read your blog about it - but for me it sounded a bit complex. We don't mind the freesat boxes in the rooms so would prefer to keep it simple TBH. Just need to get some cables bought now.
  9. OK so I think this is the plan. Freesat dish + TV + FM / DAB mounted 2 feeds of Webro WF100 twin satellite - coax cable from the dish down to a cupboard under the stairs 1 feed of Webro WF100 twin from TV & FM / DAB down to cupboard under the stairs 1 feed of Webro WF100 twin taken to cupboard - spare just in case any are damaged Could I use this https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/CAPF2100BW.html rather than the Webro WF100? Just based on price really. Is there likely to be any difference in the real world? In cupboard: Multiswitch / loftbox From cupboard to each Sat / TV / FM / DAB point: Run 2 cables of Webro WF100 twin (or the TLC cable above maybe) to each point. 1 twin to feed sat outlet & 1 to feed TV & radio point. 2nd cable for future proofing. Triplex unit fitted I also thought of running two Cat 6 cables to each room from the cupboard - one for internet connection & the 2nd as a spare. If I did this then I'd use grid or quadruplex units. Does this all make sense? once again - thanks for any comments.
  10. I cant remember what a relaxing weekend is like.... Looking forward to the rewards when its done.
  11. Ditto here. 3yrs in now and hoping to get boarding done by end of Jan 2019. Also got a full time job. Life is busy. My other half doesn't help on the plot but when I get home she's got a meal ready - priceless.
  12. Tiling done and then grout - get all the pleasure in one hit!
  13. Taking shape now. Grouting will be a good day for you.

    Guttering

    Looks great.
  15. I phoned rockwool and was told to use 50mm in a 90mm stud wall - airgap both sides was important. Add on soundbloc if want more soundproofing.
  16. What type of cable have you run? We were just going to use a freeview dish rather than a Sky one. Thanks for the replies.
  17. Ok. Is that a technical name? Any good info source to be had?
  18. Evening all, Before I board the down stair ceilings I need to run some cat 5 / 6 etc to the TV points. I would like to have satellite + radio + internet available + TV available at each point so I think I need to use multiswitches? Never done anything like this before so does anyone have advice? Planning on ringing manufacturers for info but I appreciate the unbiased comments that normally flow from this forum! Cheers
  19. Get some more tiles on and then grout - it will look very different then. You could be in by Xmas 2018 if you get a wiggle on.....
  20. why not get some sheep?
  21. crikey - leave them on don't take them off. when the body drier starts that cold draft will be reversed......
  22. Done a lot of ice climbing on the Ben and munro bagging - you're in a good spot for all that. Enjoy the build.
  23. its good to stay up to date with tech..... getting down with the kids and all that.
  24. We've got that system boiler - UFH downstairs, rads upstairs + UVC for DHW. We've got a heating buffer tank to eliminate short cycling as the boiler does not modulate down low enough for our heating demand - so had to do something. Why hasn't the plumber actually worked out what you need?
  25. We've got one wardrobe with a sloping ceiling, and we've had trouble finding a solution to hanging clothes in there until we saw this https://zebedee.co Looks like a great solution. Just thought others on here might find it interesting.
