  1. Seems a shame Gerberit would go to the effort of producing a cistern suitable to be be fully enclosed and you make access to a non moving connection . Would you even be able to get a spanner and grips in there afterwards ? The bath taps are probably the most practical install I've ever seen, and a great solution, but best to keep things practical eh? The cistern just doesn't need access imo. Hepworth bent tap connector and it's a fit n forget job afaic. ?

  2. I had specced one in our design but have just removed it. I eventually figured that the cost was just not justifiable and that realistically, it would be lucky ky to get used once a week after the novelty wore off.

  3. Nope. I just linked a random supplier. I mostly use Saxton ? Cheap as chips for recip and MTool blades. Your just angry cos I won't let you put an access panel in for your WC

  4. I must admit I hadn't intended to run a hot supply but by the time I had cut out the floor in the eves to reveal the pipework I thought "what the feck", now I'm here I may as well do both!

  5. So that's a productive weekend. All first fix for the outside bog sorted. Pipe runs for the H&C supplies were a right PIA too, I'm now crippled from crawling in the eve space to pick up the feeds!! Thats going to save me a few quid on a portaloo for the various trades. Well it will when I get the bog fitted! Oh and I suppose I had better fit a door too Had to take a trip out to buy a real of 15mm hep pipe. Yes, I've definitely got some but could I find it in the container? Of course not. I expect I'll find it tommrow now

  6. Hi Lizzie. Somewhere I have seen a research article / presentation that shows a timeline of weathering for a variety of woods. There is a guy called Ivor Davis who is a bit of guru and has published widely. It is sometimes a bit heavy but you get both barrels - try here as a start: http://www.woodknowledgewales.co.uk/files/Cladding Design Performance and Installation - Presentation by Ivor Davies 2012.pdf Found this picture here.

  8. Yep.. ! ABS, PVC-U and PVC-C all have different ratings (from Wavin Tech): Pipes and fittings manufactured from PVC-U or ABS Osma Soil systems and ABS Solvent Weld Waste system – OsmaWeld: Suitable for use with intermittent discharges of water up to 90°C Pipes and fittings manufactured from PVC-C or Polypropylene PVC-C Solvent Weld Waste system, PP Push-Fit Waste systems (to BS EN 1451-1 and BS EN 1566-1) and V-Joint Traps: Suitable for use with intermittent discharges of water up to 100°C So for a 90c thermal/pressure relief you could use either but Polypropylene would give you a margin of safety.

  9. That's actually a heat detecting one in the kitchen rather than a smoke one, so it doesn't go off every time you burn the toast!

  10. Re plasterboard boxes, if you are going to use them, use Appleby. They are the only make I trust not to disintegrate or jam. You can get metal plasterboard back boxes, TLC sell them, but they can be a bit of a PITA to fit. You are not supposed to fit "general purpose" sockets less than 300mm from a corner. Note that word "general purpose" My take is , providing you have enough "general purpose" sockets to meet the regs, and you have a need for one right in a corner, then fit it. If your building inspector is a jobsworth and complains, put a label on it "for tv only" and it's no longer "general purpose" This is the same rule that lets you put sockets high up for a wall mounted tv, as it's not "general purpose" You only need something like 4 "general purpose" sockets in most rooms so it's easy to get enough that do meet the accessibilty rules.

  11. A group of us went for a meal in a restaurant in German. We were talking English at the table and the waitress took our order in English, a few minutes later she was stood at the back of the resturant talking to the other waitress and slagged us off in German. My mate, beconded her over and in fluent German asked not to slag us off, red faced she dashed off and we didn't see her again for the whole meal. Be careful what you say!

  12. Out of interest has anyone used these? http://www.cooperbline.co.uk/telescopic-box-mount.php they are primarily used in metal stud but you can use them on timber studs. Seems like a neat solution.
