I am still on the fence about them, I co sidered them for a long time, then I ran out of space/budget on my build. If I can find the space (can they go in a garage) and I find the £5k I would consider it. I may put a post up asking for advice of where to fit it in my plans. The build is by a busy road, and it's the fresh air without opening windows or vents and the noise which sell it for me.

Yep, thanks for checking. I think 180cm would be the minimum, though a 210cm maybe too big on the render finish I will probably the 210cm on two windows one facades with timber cladding, as rather than 20mm render it's about 45mm or cladding

The assessor has you using dense block on the exterior skin. Is that really required. If you use a 7N lightweight block then the thermal conductivity falls to 0.45 (e.g besblock ultralite) which will help a bit. How about putting 25-50mm internally to the timber stud? With 50mm I think it would get it down to 0.17 IIRC

It can depend what ASHPs you are using using a recent model ecodan 11.5kw bum0ped my SAP rating up by 2 points

It depends what you are going for, mine are as follows and currently at SAP (87 / B) based on the design, though there are many other things that effect your SAP rating. External walls (masonry cavity) - 0.18 Suspended floors - 0.12 Flat roof - 0.11 My walls are the weakest point, but i think are a good balance of performance and price Exterior full fill dritherm 150mm cavity wall - FSAP.pdf Blocks are £0.99 + vat each, and the insulation is about £9.20 / m2, so in terms of materials its about £30 / m2. bricklaying is about £22 / m2 per 100mm wall leaf. Render about £30 / m2, and dot and dab plasterboard skimmed ~£8 / m2. So its about £110 per m2 exterior wall (not including lintels etc).

walls and floors aren't great, what are the constructions?

That's internal, I was after external, but good to know

Is there a recommended overhand for window cills from a render or cladded façade? I want to size up window cills to have a minimum 30mm rebate into the cavity. Cavity rebate - 30mm Block - 100mm Render - 20mm Overhang - ?

Submitting BR drawings before planning approval
Moonshine replied to Moonshine's topic in Building Regulations
I have done the drawings so it's only my time I would waste. Just waiting on the structural engineer then for their drawing package, and I will get them submitted. -
To shortern our progress on site i am looking to get my br application in. The issu is that we don't have planning approved for a revised scheme, due end of this month, with hopeful no pre commencment condition to discharge. I don't think the planners will want any changes but I presume I can tweak the br drawings before approval. Anything I am missing?

That is about what I was thinking / hoping, with me collecting. I'll see what I can get them for

How much do you think used heras fencing should cost per panel, including feet and clips? Condition is old but still sound, new panels only are about £30 + vat.

Floor standing buffer tank for big cylinders
Moonshine replied to Moonshine's topic in Boilers & Hot Water Tanks
These are the indicative HWC and buffer tank dimensions Below is how they sit in that space A couple of concerns. - Will 50mm liquid screed bear the load of 500 kg dead load - There is a requirement of 575mm of clearance required to the right of the HWC, where as i can only give 410mm - The HWC is partially obscured by the stairs and will be build into a under stair cupboard, access to the inlet and return may be difficult. -
Floor standing buffer tank for big cylinders
Moonshine replied to Moonshine's topic in Boilers & Hot Water Tanks
The initial design i have is for a 400 litre cylinder and 100 litre buffer tank Good shout, i am trying to get it under the basement stairs as shown in the section below This is it from above Open to your thoughts on arrangements. -
Does anyone know if a buffer tank like below exists, but is meaty enough to have a 350 / 400 liter cylinder on top of it? it would really help my plant space layout if i could find one.

Those dabs around sockets, beautiful

Which figures are you using from Estimators Online? as there is already profit and contingencies build into the 'client' quote, make sure you aren't double counting.
-
Aerogel - 0.015 W/mK Kingspan Kooltherm K103 - 0.018 W/mK PIR insulation (many brands) - 0.022 W/mK Get quotes for each of those at 100mm and see how much your wallet can handle

In them days, we'd a' been glad to have the inch square of toilet paper.

Resale value will likely be pretty good, and probably will have a net cost of ~£300 for the life of the project. Cheaper / easier than a knocked up shed and sanitary products Going to strap it to that wall at a fall, then 90 degrees to the inspection over.
