I have done a few calcs of my own for my plot and i think that your figures are off. My stab at it. **** back of fag packet calc starts **** Soil density is going to be about 1600 kg/m3 depending on how wet it is. So your 330m3 is going to be 528 tonnes A 6 wheel grab lorry has a capacity of about 12 tonnes So you will need about 44 grab lorries. lets say a wheel barrow can hold a 100kg load, you are going to need 5,280 wheel barrow trips. One man to load / travel / unload / travel back, say 5 minutes (bottle neck at loading) 8 hour day - 96 load per man per day Call it 85 load per man per day you will need 62 man days 6 man team 6-7 days going full tilt to shift it. **** back of fag packet calc ends **** -
Block and beam floor buildup for insulation?
Moonshine replied to puntloos's topic in Sound Insulation
You are.pretty much there in terms of what you are propsing It maybe worth putting a isolated board above the levelling compound such as screedboard or a chipboard alternative. May as well go 100mm mineral wool and two layer of 15mm soundbloc for shits and giggles. Edit, use dense block in the floor -

Are you trying to stop noise from below upwards? Downwards or both? -
I have recently found out that one of my preferred sub-contractors was declared bankrupt last year, with the company he was running at that time going under, owing a suppler £8-10k. His new company (completely different name / entity) has a third unknown party as the sole director, this maybe a sexist comment but that director is female, and is odd to me, and can't be him because as being bankrupt he can't hold a director position. I was looking to employ him as labour only, but its raised red flags and my gut us saying no.

If you don't take @PeterW up on his offer i would be interested in them ?
-
I don't know if the figure of £2k / m2 would include landscaping and driveways. I am surprised a 150m2 house could attract a £1 mil price tag
-
Rather than the objections i think that you need to focus on the reasons outlined in the rejection letter, it is those that are the material considerations and would need to be address by any resubmission.
-
personally i think that its all a bit of a hodge podge and too random. I would like to see streets with a particular style but individual variations / takes on that style. A contemptory house next to a mock Tudor doesn't look right. I think that Poundbury have got a lot of things right and seems much more organic than volume builders.
-
What colour / style is it? i may need one for my project. PM me

I am going through working out what the potential RHI payments would be from my new build with an ASHP, and what ASHP size is needed. For the RHI calc its asking for space and water heating in kWh per year https://renewable-heat-calculator.service.gov.uk/EnterDataFromEPC.aspx I have the SAP calcs which seem to have different figures for the space and water heating requirements From EPC Costs WorkSheet Space heating requirement - 3406 kWh / year Water heating requirement - 881 kWh / year From DER WorkSheet Space heating requirement - 5453 kWh / year Water heating requirement - 1385 kWh / year From TER WorkSheet Space heating requirement - 8054 kWh / year Water heating requirement - 2816 kWh / year From SAP WorkSheet Space heating requirement - 4669 kWh / year Water heating requirement - 1391 kWh / year What information is needs from the sap to determine the size of the ASHP

you can send the excel file via the forum message service

do you mind sending it to me?

My application is still in planning! ? Crossing licence granted. Building regs submitted Wednesday night, spoke to the allocated BCO this morning, they have already looked over the plans, they don't see any major issues and likely to grant permission end of next week subject to me sending them SAP and structural info today. Worlds apart between planning and BC!

750mm on aluk, though if i went with origin the more expensive option they could do 900mm still not enough for the largest windows.
-
Tilt and turn definitely not an option, don't like inward opening windows.
-
that its odd! ? yep i checked in the show room and they will open wide enough to EEW
-
Due to the size of our windows our preferred window supplier has let us know that they can't do windows the size we want (900mm x 900 mm and 1100mm x 1100 mm) as side hung. The only option they can do is top hung. This is a bit of a bugger, is it going to seem odd that pretty much every window in the house is going to be top hung?

The wooden panels (10mm) have a surface mass of about 4kg/m2, and adding the vinyl will double the mass, which may result in a ~3 dB reduction (mass law) in noise coming through the fence, but does not account for the noise coming over the top of the fence. tbh i don't think that adding the vinyl will result in a significant reduction in noise levels in the garden. The best course of action is dependant on many variables such as the topology if the site and the road, and a more effective solution may be increasing the height of the barrier or introducing a second lining of the fence on the inside of the fence posts to create a cavity.
-
what mass loaded vinyl (surface density) are you looking to use, and what is the thickness of the panels on the fence already? You may be at the point that adding material to the fence won't make a significant difference as the noise coming over the fence is the dominant impact
-
are you looking to attach it directly to the back of the existing panels or to form a cavity? what is the construction of the existing fence?

It depends what he is asking for, if its a detached dwelling he may be asking for test reports that show that the internal walls and floors achieve Rw 40 dB (this is a lab test). If he is asking for on site sound tests for a detached house he is very mistaken in what he is asking for.
