  1. It probably doesn't matter whether I vent at the STP or further down at the distribution chamber, but I wanted to ask what others did. Both options are straightforward to implement, but was sure which one to go with?
  2. The only viable option is to move the dwelling forward, but this will require another variation of condition application.
  3. The architects who gained us our planning position appear to have messed up with regards to our boundary. On our drawings it's showing at 1.4m, but when I measure from the road edge, I get about 600mm and it means that to build the house will require me to literally rip out the neighbours scrappy hedging. At no point were we consulted about the boundary and who owned the messy hedging. Surely, they should have been cautious and pulled it away from the hedge. So I'm now completely miffed as what to do as it's a significant blocker.
  4. Probably already answered, but the comprehensive list on the HMRC site states Muck Away is not VAT reclaimable.
  5. Yes. I did assume that as it markets itself on very low power consumption, it had to be 1.5mm2
  6. Maybe I am looking in the wrong place, but I cannot find any mention as to how many watts the Graf compressor and control panel use. I suspect it's not much and I just need a 50m roll of 1.5mm 3 core SWA?
  7. I have taken two weeks off work to prepare our site for our static caravan / shipping containers and also installation of the drainage field and Graf treatment plant. The digger and dumper arrived on Monday and the Kubota was brand spanking new with < 1hr on the clock. I wanted to tackle this all by myself, but I cannot grade to save my life, so I have enlisted the help of a local ground worker on an hourly rate. He’s been a god send and made easy work of the required excavation and grading tasks. Below are a few pictures of week one.
  8. You are talking to someone who suffers with hyper vigilance, so it might take some time 😂
  9. I will be fitting the Graf tank next week and am mulling over the best option for the housing the compressor unit and control panel. I know Graf do the green plastic unit, but I was wondering whether a GRP kiosk is a better option as I could glue sound absorbing foam to the inside of the cabinet walls. I don't have time to build a brick unit as I need to get the site ready for our static caravan and I only have two weeks. Graf Housing GRP Kiosk
  10. If you don't want to do barbell training, I would get some kettle bells. You can do so many things with them.
  11. That sounds like a good common sense approach.
  12. I was feeling really optimistic until I read @Post and beam comment.
  13. I'm 53 and up until 18 months ago, I was doing 5-9 hours of exercise a week. So I was very fit, but I now found that if I do manual graft, it completely wrecks me the next day. Yesterday, I did a load of hedge cutting on site, before the big start next week! This morning though, I feel like I have been hit by a truck and am thinking to myself "how the hell are you going to build a house". Any other desk bound individuals out there who are a similar age, able to comment whether they too find manual graft gets you the next day. I'm fine doing it, it's just the recovery that kills me. Really hoping, that the more manual graft I do the easier the next day will be.
  14. My CEMP apparently requires me to educate contractors on ways of working. Do I need to get a hardhat with 'Foreman' written on the front and a welfare unit for after work detention for those contractors who violate the policy. I can't decide whether they should write 100 lines or a 1000 lines?
  15. If I use individuals on a labour only basis, is there anything I need to do myself so I'm not treated as an employer?
  16. I cannot have anything thicker than 100mm due to space constraints. I'll probably just go with RSJ and horizontal sleepers.
  17. Yes, but the moment something is sold as 'Corten' it seems to have an expensive price tag.
  18. 6mm thickness is very expensive and I want it to have the corten look. On reflection, 2mm is probably too thin.
  19. I have a 'retaining' wall to build. I say 'retaining' as for years it was literally held up with vertically standing paving slabs. And given it's < 900mm high, I'm not sure how much strength I need to add. I want something different and am thinking of using the below laid vertically. It's 2mm wall thickness, but if I fill each tube with concrete, it should suffice, didn't know if 2mm would be thick enough, if I just wanted to fill with gravel. How long would 2mm steel last before it's eroded through? https://www.ainscoughmetals.co.uk/items/steel-tube/6.100-mtrs-101.6-mm-x--2-mm--steel-tube-!-chs-!-steel-pipe-drainage-!-water-pipe-!-new/17161
  20. The connection is not coming across the boundary. The pole is on our land.
  21. But the twin wall ducting does not look permeable?
  22. Given that others have said how difficult it is to pull the cable through the ducting and around the bend, has anyone found a larger hockey stick duct than the 50mm (split phase / 3 phase) that SSEN specify which would work with 100mm internal diameter ducting? The other stupid question I have is around the ingress of water into the underground ducting. I assume that the ducting remains below ground and is not bent 90 degrees and partially up the side of the pole when they come to connect. The pole is on a bank and the kiosk is lower. I just have visions of water making it's way in one end and coming out inside the kiosk. And one final thing. How do you connect 100mm ducting to a 50mm hockey stick. The internet seems to suggest using tape! Surely, there must be a ducting to hockey stick reducer?
  23. Southern Water connected our water last week, even though I told them I hadn’t backfilled the trench. They told me Friday pm that it has passed the inspection and would be connected Monday. The rain has run down the road and caused the meter box to move and sink. The pipe is also now covered with some very heavy flint pieces. It’s all a bit of a mess and not sure how to tidy it up.
  24. Do you have to use hockey sticks into the cabinet. Can you instead just use the 100mm twin wall ducting straight into the chamber?
  25. Can you elaborate as I don't follow.
