  1. Why do they want it removed? You would be checking / upgrading the existing supply as necessary and installing a 16A commando socket to plug the caravan into. Why on earth would they insist you remove that afterwards? it could have other used for them in the future.
  2. I believe any platform or stair less than 600mm above ground does not need a rail. So probably okay on your 3 steps. Surprisingly BC did not pick up any issues with 4 steps up to a patio door here without a handrail, I suspect they knew full well they were temporary for completion and we will be building decking later.
  3. I only suggest it as most people probably don't understand what and how this grant is being paid, will do nothing, and then will be in credit by £400 at the end of the winter. That's fine if they are happy to do that, but I prefer not to have a big credit in my utility providers account, too many stories of suppliers going bust and the customers having a long hard fight to get the credit back. If your supplier pays interest (mine doesn't) and you trust them not to go bust, then carry on. I prefer to manage my monthly payment myself, sometimes these "algorithm's" make daft decisions.
  4. This just puts me off an "off the shelf" battery storage system. There is too much "we know what it is doing" from the manufacturer and not enough control and information for the user. As a very minimum I would like 2 user inputs "Inhibit charging" and "inhibit discharging" so you could at least have some control over what it does and when.
  5. Ofgen have already warned suppliers not to do this, but it appears they still are. If you cannot manage to communicate with your supplier over this issue, then Ofgen would be my next contact point.
  6. Change to Octopus. They are much more flexible and the user ability to set their monthly payment is just one of the nice things. PM me for a referral code which will give you £50 credit when you switch to them.
  7. I will repeat my advice again. Reduce your monthly payment NOW by £40 per month. That reduced payment should still cover summertime usage. Then the £400 will get credited to your account over 6 months starting in October so that should cover the extra winter usage. you will need to review your monthly payment again in 10 months time, if not sooner if you are not on a fixed tariff so get another big rise in October.
  8. Why don't "they" just say that until the new version actually works, just carry on using the old version? That's like Microsoft saying we have updated W11 and it does not work. Please be patient until we make it work, but in the mean time you can't go back to the old version.
  9. Just to be clear, if you are proposing to run a cable down the wall and out to the isolator, it is ONLY a safe zone if there is some electrical accessory on the inside of the wall to create the safe zone. e.g. if there was a socket on the wall directly below where the ASHP cable exits, then it would be a safe zone. If you really want to run the cable down then out, why not fit a 13A socket directly below the cable exit and you have created your safe zone, and an extra 13A socket is never going to be "too many" Far easier to fit an extra socket than a deep chase in the wall all the way down.
  10. Is there a matching step further left? There is probably some form of lintel over the opening between the porch and the main house, that would be where I would be looking.
  11. When I had doubts, I placed my planks one at a time on the ground supported at each end on a 4" concrete block. Then i stood in the middle and jumped up and down on it. If it did not snap or bend excessively, I used it.
  12. What does the survey say? do you have a picture?
  13. No idea. I don't even know the tank capacity, other than it is small.
  14. To finish this thread. We are just back from a week away in the caravan, on a pitch with no mains, so self sufficient for power. Half way through the week the caravan power monitor was suggesting the battery was getting low, so time to give the genny a test. I ran it for 2 hours charging the battery and it ran perfectly without missing a beat. In that time it used about 2/3 of a tank of fuel which also ties with my recollection that it will do about 3 hours on a tank full. That's it back in it's storage spot, until next time........
  15. It seems to me you are designing a system to power the entire house from just PV and the 4 hour cheap rate at night.? You don't want to use ANY peak rate (outside the 4 hour window) electricity? And to do this your installer has specified 2 different systems, one of which has little or no programability in how and when it charges or discharges? I will read this with interest to see if it ever works the way you want it to. Oh and you are basing this on a particular tariff from one supplier available at the moment without knowing how long this tariff will last and if something similar will always be available. I keep having thoughts of more PV and battery storage, but each time those thoughts drift to HOW will it work and how much control will I have on when it charges and discharges, and the conclusion I draw each time is it probably needs to be a DIY designed and built system. I am actively resisting a smart meter and time of use tariffs and would prefer finding a way to add more PV with that PV only being used via a battery system and only discharging when the existing PV is not generating but that is too much fred drift to discuss that here.
  16. I am late to this thread, but will pose a dumb question. You have a Power Wall and a Solar EDGE system? BOTH of these are some form pf battery storage? Is that correct? Now to me TWO battery storage systems in the same house seems a recipe for disaster, as neither was specifically designed to work with other storage systems, so I am not surprised you ave conflicts. for the benefit of readers like me can you explain what the two systems do and are supposed to achieve? and what makes you think they can work together without conflict?
  17. Are you SURE that discharges to the foul drain? It does not look anything like deep enough for what will be exiting that inspection chamber.
  18. In Scotland you have to formally apply and pay each time you extend the building warrant £100 a go for a 1 year extension. Can you complete without the front balcony, put a temporary Juliet balcony there and do the proper balcony later?
  19. No I will try one more time, don't have time to do a drawing. 1M fence all the way along adjacent to the footpath, that we have established is allowed. Then next to and parallel with that a short distance away from the footpath, a 2M fence all the way. That cannot then be described as "adjacent" Suggestion to fill the gap with shrubs was an alternative to having a little strip of grass to keep mowing.
  20. Yes but as I am trying to say (obviously not very clearly) the planners are regarding the path as "the highway" and saying a 2M fence cannot be adjacent to that. So my suggestion is a 1M fence adjacent to the path, which is allowed, and then a 2M fence a short distance back from the footpath so they cannot say it is "adjacent" and fill the gap with some shrubs.
  21. I am suggesting a 1M fence adjacent to the footpath and a 2M fence a short distance in. That won't enclose all of your garden for your use but most of it. but the planners would have a hard time saying the 2M fence is "adjacent" to any highway or footpath.
  22. Would a compromise here be a 1M fence on the boundary and a 2M fence a short distance in from the boundary (so it is not "adjacent" ) and fill the gap with some low maintenance shrubs?
  23. In this case it's a straight couple connected to the pipe, so the plug required will be the OD of the pipe. If you can uncouple the straight coupling (push the end in and it should release the barb) then take the fitting with you to get the right sized plug.
  24. Rented property. Tell the landlord to sort it, or if he doesn't you will not be held responsible for water damage. Those rubber seals on that sort of bath screen are rubbish and notorious for leaking like that, just read the reviews on similar products on any of the retailers websites. Find an old towel and just lay that on the ground to catch most of what runs through for now.
  25. So reply to your PO stating this is a footpath with no right for bicycles so it is not a "Highway" and so the MK case does not apply. State you will make a planning application of LD is refused, and if that is refused on the same basis you will appeal as this is not a "Highway" That will show you are determined.
