Different materials layered for loft insulation.
daiking replied to epsilonGreedy's topic in Heat Insulation
Plus modern loft fluff (recycled plastic?) is so easy to work with, not itchy or irritating that you shouldn’t let it put you off. Suitable job even for completes novices, like me. Disposable mask, gloves and covered up is sensibly adequate with no worries about getting fibres up you sleeves or worse... -
Its a first floor brick/block cavity wall, aerated on the inner leaf, obvs. I see there are a number of Fischer and dewalt fixings that are supposed to be suitable but no harm in asking what other people use. I expect the blue plugs I’ve been using will be fine with putting the load onto the plasterboard.

What would be your weapon of choice? I'm looking to hang a reasonably large headboard off the wall with as few fixings as possible using something like this I quite like these rawl4all for dot/dab on solid but I think I should go for something longer and suited to aerated blocks for this job. (Then again, I'll be getting some rigifix bolts for mounting a TV)

Silly question time, if you wanted to run a water pipe underground down the garden from the house would 25mm MDPE pipe be the smallest bore correct solution? Secondly do the duct colours really matter if you are working on the house rather than the utility side of things? If you wanted some blue duct for water and some black duct for electrical it would be ok to just get 50m of one colour? Which single colour would be better? black as electricity is more dangerous?

I’d forgotten about pipes in non vented voids. I Think you might want some @Nickfromwales input on putting a gas pipe in your battened out service void. obviously you aren’t doing it now but In future it might not be ideal like this.

Loving the faux concern for buyers. someone is trying to look after sellers’ interests and nothing else. Lol, lol and thrice lol.
-
Would that need mechanical protection? In a few years time... ”where do you want this picture, love? Here? Ok, tap, tap, boom...”

This is very low grade trolling.

The question you have to ask yourself is... What would Fredd think?

If I can give some advice, it would be don't crash into your new neighbour's car before you've even completed on the house.

Do Travis sell popcorn? I'm going to need FIBCs of it for this thread.

Any sofa supplier recommendation?
daiking replied to TerryE's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
Good call, nice sofas. I can’t afford them ? Halo was another than turned our heads before we realised we should just buy some shit from one of the sheds. Also looked at Red brick mill in Batley for anyone northern powerhouse based -
As I already have a solid roof, its just easiest to use more sheet material. This is actually my first shed so I'm not partial either way. The play house must be several years old now, I bought it 'pre-loved' and the OSB roof is in pretty good shape, considering. The felt must be good enough for that to be the case and I hope (assume) I've done a tidy enough job to give it a fighting chance.
-
Lol, that’s a bit bright. im also going to board off the front of the playhouse to not see the kids toys and junk from the house...
-
The ridge of the felt was just cut whenever the shed was originally taken down at some point in distant history, the steel ridge pieces from the demolished garage are having some additional use and why the thing needs re-roofing. I did have enough felt to re roof this but had to use some on the playhouse (that I have now roofed twice in 2 years ?). 6m of felt is no longer enough so I might just get a piece of worm and do it that way. One for warmer drier weather and extra help anyway. could do with some warmer drier weather to dry the whole thing out. I’m not going to bbq it as it stands but might run the portable gas ring in it for a bit whilst I’m working around in future.
-
Finally up and part filled. Needs re-roofing but that can wait. I’ll give a paint/treatment at some stage sooner... I’ll clear the house of tools next time it’s light and dry and I’m around. Just hope I can fit a cement mixer down the gap...

Obviously they were in the 'trade' so must have a source for boards. Would cost me £10-12 a board. Is this the cheapest material to be working with? Also interesting to see cladding going onto the brick house in the background and the beach/dune he seemed to be building

Interesting “shed” on George Clarke last night. Don’t suppose it was particularly air tight as 2 walls were on casters and completely opened out.

Its about the whole nice looking thing that's easy to use out of the box that does 99% of what people want.

I was initially disappointed to find that 'Audible' is not compatible with Sonos but realistically I'm not sure it's something I'd use and the phone speaker or BT is ok for that. Likewise I don't (currently) miss any lack of youtube support.
