Weather is better so digging out the base whilst I pluck up the courage to mark out the wall with some string. just how clean does the top of the footing need to be to start laying blocks on it?

It’s p*ssed down today so the whole thing is under inches of muddy water now ? I think it’s within 30mm. I did go round trying to level it when it was poured but I ended up with more converter than the level of my markers. hoping it’s not more than +/-10mm. Noted the high corners so planning on starting from there. Was going to use 4:1 from the research I’d done. Got 1 Cement and 4 sand. Just that the cement bag opened and spat out a load of cement dust when I put it in the barrow to wheel it down the garden. Should still have more than enough, looking at nearly 100kgs when mixed up? Assume the concrete will need to be relatively clean and dry to lay on, no ‘primer’ or anything on it before putting the mortar down?
-
I could have done with getting this done this weekend but my footings are a muddy brown moat, my bag of cement burst and I’ve got a rat in the shed. The flooding has shown where my amateur concrete finishing was not great and there are high and low areas to work with.

Tell them you're nearly there and you're looking forward to bullying off for the final chukka.

The dimming thing isn’t important but I would like to be able to cut the plug transformer off the RGB kit and splice on a 12v transformer so it can go on the lighting circuit not in a socket.
-
That answers the question, you can’t feed a reduced signal from a dimmed transformer into the LED controller (colour or white). It’s straight up whites only (or other sole colour) with no original control mechanism.
-
Glad to hear. I was looking at this thread over the weekend and had a question about using RGB leds. Would the dimmer work just the same. You would need to control the colour programme by remote or app but will the dimmer alter the light level on whatever the programme is in use?

I appreciate the thought but I think a 100 gallon tank is going to be a bitt OTT for my needs.

No soak away and I’m next to a watercourse. Don’t mind emptying a containers occasionally. Only grey water and can put bleach/disinfectant in it during use. Something like this as a transformer? https://www.jacksonsleisure.com/dometic/waeco/mps35/mains/adaptor I know a led transformer won’t work.

He doesn't have kids, does he? Lucky barsteward. No wonder he has money to burn.

Wouldn’t you just hide it on the floor behind something? Won’t a 12v submersible pump run off a simple 240v transformer like 12v led lights?

Sorry, I corrected my post - it’s actually a 700mm wide cupboard for a 4-port manifold. Dont know exactly what the fitter did to the cupboard but it’s a very good job. Very tidy and very solid on a standard Howdens cabinet. And I don’t suppose it really matters here but it’s a standard kitchen floor unit with a worktop - not a tall/larder unit.
-
*checks notes on Jezza’s age* Boomers, eh?
-
An elegant solution in it’s physics, but ugly in practice. Needs to be hidden away. It’s a great idea but the issue will be finding that eBay unicorn that I need. I expect I’ll end up putting those type components into a worktop of my own instead. Planning on full electrics as well so don’t need a full 12v system and could run a portable hob so don’t need a gas one.

How to provide basic hand washing when there is no water supply or waste system? my shed is going to be below the drains and I’m not going to be able to put a legal water supply in (750mm depth etc) + I’m sort of worried about having an infinite supply of water into somewhere without any sort of drain. So the obvious solution here is caravan/boat plumbing! If there is a small bar/counter in my shed, I am proposing to have a small freshwater tank I can fill with a hose, with a pump and micro switch tap, a tiny hand wash type basin (<300mm dia) and a portable wastewater tank. Similar to that of a caravan but in a shed. Components is easy, how the connect together, not so much. I could ditch the 12v pump for a foot operated one to make things even simpler.

I am probably going to put all the lighting in my little posh shed on Quinetics. As it’s a log cabin, I understand that movement is an issue and the wall logs expand/contract with the seasons as well as all the wiring needing surface mounting. So quinetic seems ideal. shame I’m unlikely to see the electrician ‘savings’ from reduced wiring/trunking/conduit work to cover the costs ?

Or do you both mean mitre down the full long edge of 2 boards and finish the edges that way?
-
That’s what I mean, you still have the slot down the outer long sides. I have seen a step profile which could work in that situation.
-
No need to go to any trouble. I’m just looking at options. One thing I don’t like about the cheap options I’ve looked at is that there is no edge board option. Either you leave the slot on show or use the dodgy trims.

I have these ECOWHO units on my shopping list: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07T2GBR7S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_9PJ4B650GEQ8X0CQA0NC Plan on using a TAPO smart socket to control them.

Makes you wonder how much money people were blowing on eating, drinking and holidaying ?
