Well it’s arrived and I haven’t even started digging yet. Over a tonne of wood sat on the drive. Good news is that I have decorated a bedroom instead. Why do women do that?

The ultimate Garden Studio / Gym / Shed build

“simple design that can be made by just about anyone, with basic tools” That would be a buildhub first. -

Just buy a shed/log cabin I love the look of a shipping container, something industrial but that wouldn't fly with the boss. -
Farrow and Ball paint: is it that much better?
daiking replied to ToughButterCup's topic in Decorating
I paint whatever I'm given. Recently got reamed buying a specific colour in Dulux Trade Diamond Matt, could have bought F&B. It seemed really think but to be fair I got more coverage than I expected and it does look pretty good. -
Do you remember the time @Construction Channel mocked up the buildhub logo in the same Gfx style ? I think it was his avatar for a few days.

And with that I have to go decorate a bedroom...

Er, thanks but it hasn’t really got anywhere yet and the (pre-made) kit arrives on Monday ? The plan is to finish it before lockdown finishes so no rush just yet.

Are you sure you’ve thought this through? Looks a bit amateur-ish to be honest.

How does your garden grow?
daiking replied to recoveringbuilder's topic in Landscaping, Decking & Patios
If you were closer, you’d be welcome to plenty of it. It grows on the bank of the stream that run alongside my garden. -

It’s a wooden cabin ? it will get wet. alright I’ve drawn it mirrored wrong there, more interested in the slab build up at the moment.

Nothing. This is the standard detail for this type of build. I’m intending it to be a little above ground level, there is a slight overhang on the roof. the detail is that the bearer should be flush with the wall but until I’ve got my bits of wood I don’t know exactly what I’ve got. the intention is that the base blocks are exactly sized for the perimeter of the cabin

I dug up a load of bluebells last spring, I just hope they grow in their new spot. ? it will be. A couple of weeks beofre the wild garlic sprouts. -
Going with the following plan to have a go at something new. I’d be lying if I said I thought going to this much trouble would make a significant difference. But there we are. Intending to float the floor with no bearers on the concrete. The extra little bit of PIR to help.

I'll say it again, I feel sorry for Margretta.

feeling very sorry for the wife.

Floodwatch peaked at about a sphincter clapping 1.28m. which meant it wasn’t quite lapping at the base of the fence. I have a few cm to play with height wise so will prob have my base a little bit above ground level. (log cabin is a flat roof variant 2240mm high)

Safety nets - yes, bail outs - no. The result of the last bail-out is 14 years and counting of zombie economy and all those things the little people have done like picking Brexit, Trump, Corbyn and Boris. The keep trying to push inflation but it’s just not happening yet. @epsilonGreedy has it in for government borrowing but private sector borrowing was a car crash in many sectors and look, here we are.

I watched that when you posted it yesterday. I’m probably going to go for simple footing and a slab on the basis of showing people how wrong they are who say laying 30 blocks level is quite simple.

It’s been snowing for 2 hours as well, wtf. cabin position is not yet under water but it is dark out there. I think we’re getting to the stage where the upstream culvert is limiting the flow past us.
