  1. Consensus was that a real man would only have a petrol blower
  2. Should have said, would still insulate roof and floor as they advise but you Can do this without losing the log cabin look.
  3. Online reviews are a minefield. I've used Primrose in the past, not plants but spent about £600 on pots - All cosmetically damaged due to poor packing, even had a second delivery that had the same problem! All returned for a refund. I'm looking at a local supplier for some plants. Prices seem reasonable but I don't think stuff supplied in 9cm pots is going to cut the mustard.
  4. I was trying to budget something DIY (Not SIPs) as built stuff was as expensive as a house. But still a bi fold was a massive chunk of the budget. Now we had a 3m door put into the house 5 years ago and that was about £3k for the door. I don’t suppose they’ve got much cheaper. What with everything that’s going on, we managed to convert the box room into an office for me so there is no rush but my wife’s current plan is to get something like a Tuin Lory log cabin - £4.5k + other costs. It’s a 45mm thick log which they suggest as minimum for all year occupation but even thicker is better. As I won’t be working in it, we’ll be fine with heating it occasionally. I wouldn’t want to get a log cabin and then insulate it internally IYSWIM.
  5. crosses Poundstretcher off the list of preferred suppliers...
  6. Anyone care to name some decent suppliers if I was daft enough to buy a couple of small fruit trees and shrubs?
  7. "I couldn't bear to go back to one of those national suppliers, my locally supplied windows are just, just... so much more transparent. And the frames are just the most wonderful uPVC-y frames I've ever seen"
  8. Wonder if they do a sketch for double glazing installers too?
  9. The independent installer will cost more ?
  10. Not usually. Just trees to see from here.
  11. In English? not Cornish please. Next order is 256 pods for £45.77 = 18p pod for one drink
  12. Well lockdown and home-working has made pod use interesting ? I'm now buying 250 a time to get OEM pods at 20p and using 5-6 a day at home but still not looking to change. However the economic balance has definitely tipped toward beans now our annual consumable bill is in the region of a decent machine.
  13. We are seriously over-tree'd for what we've got. A couple of sycamores seem to have been premature this year in losing their leaves, I'll have months of this. Just think of next year's leaf mulch. I'm going to see if I can fill that bulk bag in a month. The grim wet Manchester winter started overnight so I might no have a dry day till March.
  14. Prob last chance today to use the mower before spring. Didn’t need cutting though, just collecting leaves from a small garden ?
  15. I was going to call them (expletive deleted)ing squirrels but it read as though they were fornicating in the flower pots.
  16. With apologies to the local cats, its not them its squirrels that are digging up my pots not cats. Keep catching them in the act and they're making a mess of my patio.
  17. I've got a big handful of chillies to dry, I may try them in the oven.
  18. We've got 2 identical ovens What about a slow cooker? (apart from being small) Our next door neighbours have a pear tree that is half over our garden but its, i dunno, 15m tall so no chance of picking fruit from it.
  19. What advantages does a dehydrator confer over just an oven? Would be interesting to see what power a modern oven uses at a low heat.
  20. I'm reading today that Brexit is bad because we'll be flooded with cheap food and also that Brexit is bad because food will become more expensive. Why are you doing these hurty things to us, Brexit?
  21. True this. I’ve got one leaking at the moment. Seeing as it would cost £100+ for a plumber to fix it, I’ve let it leak.
  22. I have caught the wife doing it and it scares the bejesus out of me. We have a goal post island arrangement approx 1m wide with approx 300mm overhang for a breakfast bar on one side. ? Not something I would want to do myself. Luckily the tolix style stools are ideal for standing on instead.
  23. Well then, someone will Shirley have to share the secret handshake.
  24. Does that work?
  25. Adam Frosts's book has arrived. I think its a good start and it was only £5 on Amazon a couple of weeks ago.
